wet sanding is just about the last resort to the finish, it removes lots and lots amounts of clearcote, but thats to get through all the nasty layers. some of you guys looking for results will find something similar with just a machine polish, however some cars are too far gone for that. wetsanding will give the best results though, but its also the hardest to do if you dont know what youre doing.. bye bye paint.

As long as you sand a little, and constantly check your progress, it's pretty safe. Just don't go to town sanding. Slow and steady is the key. And wet

do not colorsand and panel edges! it will go thru the paint and clear believe me. colorsanding is like magic though if ya know what youre doing...i like some car wash soap in my bucket with the water, makes it sorta slick..i also use 3-4 sheets that way the paper stays good and clean, imo 2000 grit would clean up any factory paint job and need way less polishing...nice work,

Bump for a old thread. I'd like more info on wet sanding, im scared sh!tless to put sand paper to my car, but damn that looks good. Thanks in advance for any info.

Nah...the clay bar just removes dirt and stuff from the surface of the paint. A bar, and some compund will work wonders for most cars. Sometimes just a machince galze is all that is needed. All depends on the condition of the car.

If you have never wet sanded and buffed a car becareful or you'll be paying someone to repaint it.
Car looks good man. I did mine 2 winters ago and got it so slick that now when you touch it with something you can see ever little scratch. The smoother you get the paint the more careful you have to be from then on. Mine stays in the basement most of the time and is hardly ever driven.

I would NOT recommend wet sanding factory clearcoat. especially for the novices. FloridaZ paint looks killer man. Nice job. What color is that?
The base coat is mostly Medium Red Metallic mixed with a little monterey maroon, and the clear has a little "Blood Red" candy in it. It took me awhile to find a mix that i liked. I tried at least 10 different pieces with different mix variations. It really seems to change colors in different lighting.
