Default Updated my interior part 2 - *pics*

Well here is some more updates to my interior, I painted the vent fins red ( a much bigger PITA than I thought it would be) and removed the back seat. I know most of you dont like the red stuff but this is really more for those of you who enjoy something different!

!Backseats

and I got my sub mounted right side up so it doesnt look retarded anymore

Thanks, I'm going to build a box to help the back seat delete look a little more complete

I like the rear seat delete, I'll keep my opinion to myself on the color choice.

IMO a darker red would look better, there's too much contrast. It looks almost orange in the pics (your camera, or my PC, dunno)
The seat delete looks good, and making a box for it would make it look finished.
Did you take the vents apart to paint them or do you just have a really steady hand

My camera captures red very badly, they look 100x better in person, I'll try to get some pics when its not so bright out then it actually looks red. I did have to take them apart. A total pain in the *** to get them apart painted and back together without breaking anything. And my fingers are sore from snapping those damn things back together so many times

Looks great, Steve. That is some REAL intricate work you've done. Now you just need to convert the entire interior to BLACK so that it matches the black / red theme you have on the outside. Makes me even more anxious to start my interior project.

If you sand the grain off of the pieces before you paint them you can get a super nice gloss on them, smoothing them out makes a big difference. I like painted interiors, keep up the good work.

I started to sand the grain off some of the pieces but with 25 pieces total and all of them pretty damn small it was taking forever so I just kind of gave up w/ sanding them all down. The ones I did sand looked a little bit better but it was negligible.

As for the question about removing the seat, yes it was already carpeted, there is a small strip where the front of the seats bolt down that is not carpeted which is covered by my rear floor mats for now. They are real easy to take out seat belts and seats took about 30 mins took longer to find the right tools!

Do have a question for you meissen and libertine first how do you get the center console off ? I found the screws in the compartment but what do you do about the shifter to get the center console. Second how do you get the bezel surrounding the gauge cluster off just remove the plastic piece below it and yank? I just don't want to break anything. I think im going to do that black and the center console red/black. The doors will be painted and reupholstered in about 2 weeks along w/ some seat covers.

Looks good, like the back seat delete. I plan to do mine when I no longer have to give rides to my friends.

To get the console off, you have to take the center section out first, look under the coin holder in the console bin, there's 2 bolts under it take those out and remove the shifter handle, the center part lifts out, then you can take the remaining bolts out, get the parking brake handle in the right position and the rest of the console will lift out.
You can find pics if you look on ls1 howto under the pro 5.0 shifter install, the consoles should come out the same way

put the shifter in 1st (all the way back) and then use a flat-blade screw driver to pop out the staple/clip. yank the shifter off the pole, and then put it in like D. Two screws under the console lid, lift up and it comes out. I don't remember about the e-brake tho. And, gauge cluster I can't answer for ya since you have the 97+ interior and I still have the 93-96 interior (except for the 97+ center console)

So on an auto the head of the shifter just slides off after popping it over the clip that faces the front of the car?

Yup. Small flat head driver is all you need. Clip pops right out. Just be carefull not to slip and scrape the leather. I did it on my old one by accident..lol

The red looks orange on my computer, but it looks ok. I have to ask where did you get the box for the back hatch area and how much? Also what kind of amp?

I bought the box and sub together on ebay it is a JL Audio stealth box. MTX also makes one called a thunderform box and subthump makes one too. I got it for 150 bucks used and it sounds FANTASTIC the reflection of the bass of the hatch is so perfect. The amp is a rockford fosgate RF2002 I think its something like 600 watts peak and 200 rms.

I'm surprised more people are starting to like it now :-p
