cleaning engine bay
cleaning engine bay since simple green is not getting the bestt reviews, how else do you guys effectively clean an ls1. and sorrounding parts. my engine isn't extremely dirty but can use a nice shiney cleaning. thanks

One word, Zaino. I just purchaced a ton of it and I must say, I am extremely satisfied. The car was looking a bit dull then I put this stuff on and I swear it looks just like a really thick mirror.

UHHHHHH?? I think he was asking about cleaning the engine bay, not the exterior of the car.
If you have access to a compressor, get an engine cleaner attachment. Home Depot sells the Husky model (Model HDT132) for about $15. When I'm cleaning my engine bay, I'll fill a bucket with car wash solution and another with clean water. Spray the dirty spots with soapy water, then hit then with the clean water, then you can turn off the feed on the sprayer and blow air on the spots to dry them. If the pressure itself doesn't clean off the spot, grab a rag or a stiff paint brush (Meguiars adjustable detailing brush works well here) and work the dirt loose.
Use common sense, with this. It's high pressure and water, so don't go nuts around the computer, the coil packs, or the battery.

why are yall having to use such badass cleaners?
rare cleaning or what?
I clean under the hood every time i wash the car, takes only a few minutes and helps keep the hands clean when you are working on it, not to mention you can check everything out at that time too...
