Default firebird hid pics, 56k beware

I bought all the parts from a user on this forum, but the kit can be put together pretty easy if you look around. I have step by step instructions i can email if anybody is interested. Also this site has a lot of good info http://firehawk.jonbroomfield.com/hidinfo/ I believe txhorns281 has the same setup as well.

This is a true projector HID setup using Hella 90mm projector lenses and phillips 4300K D2S bulbs. The only tricks to this conversion are adapting the headlight brackets to fit the projectors, and adapting the projectors to fit the HID bulbs. The high beams are also projector housings but I left the regular bulbs in there.

This one guy I ride with occasionally took a standard sealed bulb, cut a hole in the back to fit the projector into and essentially remounted the sealed beam backwards. This filled in the hole nicely as well as gave him factory adjustments ....

just an idea

Thanks for taking steps many of us are afraid to!! Looks good! I would just consider coming up with some sort of metal backing to cover the area around the projectors, I'm not sure if that is possible or not! I'd love to see more pictures!!

Looks good. I have been waiting to see if someone was able to rig up a projector set for F-Bodies. Just curious, How much did it cost you to do the whole thing? And how much time did it take you? anything special needed?

Mine was a little over $700 I think cause I the other guy bought all the parts for me and converted the projectors, and provided the wiring harness. That also included the cost of the projector high beams. To do just the HID lowbeam conversion would be about $450 I think. It's kind of a lot of money but i'd do it over again since i hate not being able to see on dark country roads at night.

Hmm, cool idea, i hadn't thought of that. The holes don't really bother me since I never see them but it would have saved some drilling for the mounting holes.

It basically took an afternoon. It used a screwdriver, a dremel with cutoff wheel, a drill, and if you don't buy the wiring harness you'll need to make that.

Awesome.

And now everyone who thinks that the 'Vette got ugli-fied simply to have improved lighting can all get bent! Proof that HIDs work in a flipup assembly.
