I gurantee more people are going to ask if your car is an ss from the hood before they even notice the badge. Joe smo on the street doesnt know. Now if you were riding around Ls1.comtown and turned down appearance & detailing street your car would be jumped on kicked and shot at by an angry mob. When i had my 98 so many people asked me if I had a ws6 model car. It had a stock damn hood! Yet I was still asked. And when i said no "oh" I would think WTF!! Do you know how many people ask me "Is that a camaro or a firebird?" ************* dont know. Joe schmo dont know the difference trust me.
But.....my favorite moment about owning a CE came when i wasnt even driving it, I was rolling in my beater leaving work. I see a mbm ws6, so i roll up next to him in my neon and look over. What do I see? Collectors edition badges on the damn fender, with nhra badges above them on both sides......how nice. If I was rolling the CE I would have put the window down and shook my head at him.

like i said before...the ss is "basically" an appearance package...especially when ur done changing all the stuff on your car and removing all the performance stuff that slp put on there. i also came back and stated that the ss IS something special. the appeance is definitely special. i personally dont like many z28's. the flat hood is ugly and the wing...well...you just cant compare it to the ss wing. i could be wrong...but i was told that all ss's left gm as z28's. is this correct?

i pretty much agree with everyones point...because there are a few different standpoints here. we are all on the same team here guys. but from this thread i feel like the ss/ws6 guys think theyre on another level that the z28 guys. if i had a z or an ss it would end up looking the same way when it was done. people tailor their cars to themselves...so i say do what makes you happy....but dont **** the thing up. make it look classy. i personally think the stock z28 badges are ugly. the ONLY stock looking ones i like are the chrome ones on a black car. the older z badges are a very nice...but on "some" cars ive seen them on they look out of place.

nope

you can tell a B4C by the body color top. as according to all the information ive ever seen the body color top and no option of T tops was the only diffrence from a B4C and a Z28. B4Cs look like V6s... i love it when i destroy people from a light and they roll up at the next light and say "man i thought that was a V6"

Stuck up like me, you crack me up dude. You wouldnt say anything to someones face, I'mnot you, I would let my window down and laugh. If you read any thread I post in you will see I am all for people doing whatever they want to do to their own cars. Putting a Collectors Edition badge and nhra badge on a mbm car makes no sense though, in the wrong spot. Now that is like a ricer putting a type R badge on. Everyone knows damn well there are no mbm CEs running around. If you couldnt see the humor in my post then you need to stfu b/c thats not my problem.

Please read what is included in the base SS option because you have no clue.

Peace,
Craig.

Y2Y = Dual Dual exhaust option. It was optional on the SS, standard on the Firehawk.
WU8 = SS package option. All Camaro SS's should have the WU8 code.

i could be wrong...but i was told that all ss's left gm as z28's. is this correct?
You are correct, they all have the Z28 code on the build tag. Look at that SS window sticker that CRAGER posted, it says Z28 on it. BUT, the "SS" cars got the WU8 code, which was the SS package. This is what makes them an SS. Unless they had the WU8 code, they were not converted to the SS from the factory.

but from this thread i feel like the ss/ws6 guys think theyre on another level that the z28 guys.
Guys that put SS/WS6 badges on their clone cars must also think that SS/WS6 cars are on a higher level too, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.

Y2Y is an "overlay" option code. It represents ALL SLP installed options. Those options ranged from a different exhaust to a high end shock package to an SS keyfob. Y2Y merely means there are SLP options on the car. If you have a Y2Y code, there are also a separate SLP option sheet.

Doesn't matter, it should be a 32mm hollow from and 19mm rear (depending on your year). Pretty much the SS (in my year, not sure after that) just got the 32mm front bar, UNLESS you got the 1LE package as well, then you got a 21mm rear (which I bought afterwards). But that combo (32mm hollow front and 21mm rear) is a bit tight. A better combo is the 32mm solid front and 21mm rear. SLP made a 35mm or some crazy **** later on I think, didn't they offer that as an option?
