Default painted fast intake pics

Can I get some pics of painted fast intakes. I put one on my car but was really hoping to retain the stock look....or atleast a little more subtle than light grey. what did you use? how did you prep? what would you do different if you did it again.

Prep: Sanding, sanding, sanding. I filled in the factory fuel line crossover indentation and sanded off the FAST/WILSON logos.

Paint: Body shop layed down several coats of sandable primer, followed by base coat/clear coat...the color is BMW Black Sapphire Metallic.

Since this pic was taken, I switched to a Nick Williams TB. I wouldn't do anything differently if I did it again...

wow man that looks pretty good. does it need to be sanded so smooth or will paint stick to the rough surface of the intake? that seems pretty tedious.

No the intake does not have to be sanded smooth for you to paint it. It is a whole lot more work but in my eyes definately worth it if you are going to bother to paint it anyways.

all those pieces look good. stryker Ive seen your work here before and it amazes me every time I look at it. Can I use a high temp rattle can paint or are those not going to hold up to engine temps and bubble off.

Cant say too much when it comes to rattle can paint. I use all house of kolor/valspar paints on my stuff and they will withstand the temps wihout any problem. There is a lot said when spraying your stuff with paints like, ppg, dupont, HOK, sikkens the list goes on, but you will not get a better looking job from rattle cans. I am sure you can get a decent looking product however.

More pics to keep the thread going....

You know, with all that prep you did to get that manifold ready I hope the body shop didnt charge you too much. Cause it looks like you did a great job with prep to get a finished product like that.
