Very funny, really not that cool if you don't tell me what you had to do to get it in there.

What I had to do was...

Pull the trim, undo the 4 gauge mount screws, and swap, and reverse the tear down for install!!! lol

The 97 is the only one that will work in the pre 97 cars, cuz it was still set up for a LT1 harness...you can have the mileage reflashed to show your actual mileage from your cluster....

I just joined the forum and am in the process of customizing a 1997 Formula (bought it last year with only 14K miles). I can't stand the red and have decided to tackle the color switch out. Please let me know if I'm understanding this correctly.
I ordered this overlay reverse glow instrument overlay (it is silver in the daytime with blue at night) and a bezel from Macewen along with silver overlays for the shifter, headlights and hvac controls. Called a chevy dealer and they can order just the camaro face covers for the headlights and hvac switches for $32.
I still need to go to superbrightLED.com and order #74 blue LED for the hvac (2), and doors (2) and go to ledgauges.com and order a pre-wired LED for the headlights. Does this cover everything? What about the door controls (locks, windows)? How do I change those over to blue? Thanks!

Looks great!!! How's the blue light on the eyes at night? Good thread on changing out the steering wheel LEDs also. Take it easy.

On mine, I have 7 blue 3mm LEDs for the shifter and 3 blue 3mm LEDs for the odometer.

I love the blue at night. I can't tell any difference on how easy it is on the eyes at night.

guys i read the write up about the blue leds and i definitely want to do it. only problem is that i have a 98 V6 bird so the speedo only goes to 120. Also i read that it is easier with camaro gauges. Anyone know where i can get camaro gauges that only go to 120 and would the process still be the same? thanks

You have it made then! ProCarParts.Com actually sells 98-up V6 reverse indiglo gauges with silver faces! We have to go with Z28 gauges cause they dont' make reverse indiglo for V8 'birds... which makes no sense, but they work nonetheless.

You're gauges will look just like they do know, except blue.

uhmmm, i dont see them lol. i dunno if im blind or just dumb. I did find this set for the V6 00-03 bird. http://www.procarparts.com/store-det...=onlinestoreDB looks just like my gauges so im guessin u meant them? also will they glow as bright as yours do or should i swap the leds behind anyway to get the to really glow? atleast i wont have to worry about that red film

That's them. I dunno WTF that place thinks about the years... Hell we all know they didn't make F-bodies in 03! Anyways, just verify that all the numbers seem to be in the right place, as well as signals, and any other light.

yep you'll still need to do the odometer mod. It's not a necessasity, I didn't do mine for 6 months till I found out how to. But it looks SO much better with it blue! Yep for the HVAC and headlight, you'll still need camaro gauges, for them doesn't matter if it comes out of a V6 or V8 car.

alot of places have the white gauges that will just reverse glow, i still just need to redo the LEDs right? what if the gauges say they will shine blue, if i do the LEDs, will they glow a different blue then the rest? im getting confused. im wanting to get them from dyno pro performance, i will need to do the leds in the dash still right?

The overlays from procarparts don't need any additional LED's, since they block out all light from the instrument panel and light up on their own. I don't know anything about other stores overlays so just make sure that they are self lighting ones and not just white covers that still shine whatever the hell the stock color is.
