Default T/A Blue Odometer

http://www.ledgauges.com/id26.html
Thanks to this site I finally have 100% of my dash lighting up blue now! It was pretty easy to change them out. I did do something different than his write-up. I grinded the heads of the LEDs flat to dispurse the light more and also had them pointing at the odometer. I also changed the E-Brake LED to a blue 10K mcd LED. Even though my digital camera sucks at night pictures, all blue lights in my car matches.

Also did my TCS, Conv. Top (For QTEC) and fog light switches last week.

There are two ways to do it.

You can either get the appropriate LED and matching resistor, solder the resistor in front of the LED, insert it into the bulb holder for the HVAC. You could solder it in if you wanted, but mine stayed just jamming them in there.

The easier way to do it is to go to www.superbrightLEDS.com and pick up two #74 LEDs. What they do there is make LEDs just like bulbs that you can plug in for a direct replacement. Super easy.

Thanks! I can't take credit for the odometer, if it wasn't for him I probably have never gotten around to figuring it out. When I first looked at it at dusk it looked to match, but when it's dark it's more of a bluish-puple color. It doesn't match my other lights, but I did use 3mm 7000mcd blue LEDs. At least it's not orange anymore.

The SLP mount came from www.humount.com

Is it these?

74 Wedge Base LED bulb
Small Wedge Base LED bulb (74 type)
3/16 inch wide base, 13/16 inch overall length
Flat tipped LED produces wide beam angle
$ 1.19

That's it! BUT keep in mind this. We got some of those #74 replacement bulbs and as easy as they are to swap in, the don't quite match as good as just using 5mm LEDs. No clue why, just one of those things with the varying brightness of them.

Will this work with stock TA gauge cluster? I heard there is like a red film behind the stock gauges.

The stock T/A gauges have a red film over the inside. Someone else on here (sorry I don't know who to give credit to or I would) figured out that you can use a razor blade to scrap the clear film cover off the back of the gauges and then use acetone to wipe off the red covering. There are two catches though. 1. You have to pull of the needles to get to the film. PITA! and 2. There is some shading in the plastic to even out the red this will still be there after you take the red off. However it is an option if you don't like the camaro overlay.

I wish they made the T/A style overlays that dont have red on them. I would love to change my stuff over to blue but dont want a camaro cluster in my car.

Ditto this! I believe they do, BUT they look very ricish so I took the next best thing. Easiest, just as cheap, and fastest way to do it. Even camaro owners pay the same for the LED 194 bulb replacements for their dash. If they do ever make one for T/As, I'll be on it!

Silverado would probably be just like a camaro. Swap out the 194 bulbs for some "whatever color" LED replacements. The odometer I bet is similar as well.
