Saying you like a hood, wheels, spoiler... ok. Trying to get me to believe you just love the look of two plastic letters (SS emblems) and that's the reason you are putting them on there (as opposed to wanting people to think you have an SS) is the biggest bullshit I've ever heard

Like everyone's been saying, if you want to make an SS clone, why not. If its mechanically the same (meaning youve swapped over everything) i see no problem. On the other hand, i wouldnt throw a hood and a spoiler on a v6 and call it an ss.

Call it an SS clone though, dont go around calling it an authentic SS.

Its on different than an old tempest turned GTO clone.

Yes I do love the look of the two letters.
Like I said if you build a racecar from the ground up and put a fiberglass Camaro body on it I guess your scamming every one int thinging its a Camaro then right? No you put the Camaro body on it because you like it right?
also like I said I just couldn't cut up a original SS like that. Some people can. I would have to just keep it stock.

Umm yeah, you are. Hence why Year One and Dyna Corn (however that's spelled) had to call their car "Hot Rod 1" instead of a CAMARO at first because they didn't have the permission from GM to label it something it wasn't...

GM builds CAMAROS and decides which ones become V6's, which ones become Z28's and which ones become SS's... Anyone else is posing and these cars aren't rare enough nor old enough for the car community to accept "clones" as a recreation instead of a pathetic envy, sorry

I hate hearing someone call an SS an SLP car, like its a special one or something. Then when you explain it to them, they dont listen and insist that their car is different from any "regular" SS

I don't think its as bad as putting cobra on a GT mustang. There isn't as big a difference with the z28 and SS as there is with the cobra and GT.

But why? What's wrong with leaving Z28 on there?

Looks just as good.

For the record, all ss cars (specifically '98 thru '02) went thru slp and (should) have received a build number.

The cars with additional content received the "second window sticker", and passenger side slp options sticker.

BTW: I wouldn't really go overboard on this topic, bc to many non car enthusiasts and other car fanatics, we all look the same (and are valued the same, roughly..) Meaning....ss, rs, z28 = camaro= a chevy.

It is wrong IMO to badge a Z as an SS, but its also not good putting down a Z if its not an SS. Thus a Z owner should feel proud to have their great car without feeling a need to make it look like something else.

If a Camaro was built from the ground up why could you not call it a camaro. I am not talking about a company that builds them and sells them as Camaros I am talking about a person building there own car for there own use.

You can say what you want but I feel a Camaro is a Camaro no matter what you have on it. its just cosmetics. If you don't like the factory Z28 badges why can't you change them to another Z28 badge if you want or another completely different badge. Just because the OEM didn't put it on the car don't mean you can't. Just like the F1 Camaro it starts out as a Z28 and you can add the F1 kit to the car. Does adding the F1 kit to a Z28 (which replaces the Z28 badge with a F1 badge) make you a poser?
The way I feel is that having a SS is just paying them to install the SS kit for you on a Z28. The only problem I see is someone trying to make money off of the car claiming its a original SS when its not. But anyone looking for an original SS should be able to figure that out before buying it. Sure the SS will hold more value than the Z28 but you have to pay more for it too. Just like if you buy a car without navigation and then you install it yourself most of the time you will not get the same amount of money for the car as one that came with navigation oem even if you put an oem navigation in it.

it seems to me like people take more offence to changing a Z bagde to a SS badge than people do when someone adds a Ls1 to a 3.8 car and puts Z emblems on it.
