LT1 tail lights or LS1 tail lights...?

I changed the tails on my 96 to 98. PITA! Could never get them to work right. Problem is that the brake lights are wired thru the turn signal switch on a 96. 98 is wired direct to the lights. It would be easier to put 96 tails on a 98 and wire them directly. I have the 96 lights and harness if anyone is interested.

Wow...sounds like a lot of work to get it to work right. I guess I will pass on this idea unless I somehow find a weekend when I am not doing anything and am really, really bored. Thanks for all the replies though.
