No, just clean and polish the area. On mine I clayed and polished the area a couple of times.

My buddy tried doing his 00 T/A and it actually started cracking the fiberglass or whatever GM wants to call it. It started splitering and pulling off the door with the molding! He ended up sticking it back on and has given on on that idea. He is a big fan of removing em too.

i the side molding off my 98 formula with 84k miles on it. It's black and its looks great. I did it in like 45 degree weather tho so i still gotta go out and get the rest of that stupid tape off of it.

I used dental floss to start it then just pulled it off with my hands.For the left over double sided tape film i got some stuff from advanced made by 3M sprayed it on and came off fairly easy. Then a nice wash, always got to wash your car after you do something to it big or small

dude took me all of 10 min to do both sides now all i gotta do is pick up some goo-gone
