Removing license plate cover
I got pulled over by a bored highway patrol officer in Texas today because I don't have a front license plate. I looked at it and tried to pry it off but it isn't moving... how do you get this thing off? I can't see up in there to see if it's bolted in from the back or what... or I'm just not prying enough...

alrighty... I tried to get my arm down in there and can't seem to find a spot that it fits... I may just say screw it and leave it like it is... from what I'm reading around here it seems like I should just leave it on

His sig shows a '98 'Bird.
Get a flashlight & look for the torx head screws down in the opening just under the cover.
This has been mentioned many times here. There are two screws on the bottom side of the cover that need to be removed.
Look at this photo, in the lower section where these two yellow circles are, ..., that's where the bolts are.

Depends if you want the cops hassling you about it, but if you need to put the plate on, under the front of the car there are 3 button head fasteners, remove them, and pull back the plastic, abd the bolts should be visible (IIRC they are torx head) take the four out and the plate filler will come out
BTW if you need the front plate, and want the filler, you can get the clear one from afterthoughts auto.
Check your local laws, as putting the plate on the front airdam, could in some places be considered legal (especially if they don't specify the front most part of the car, or words to that effect)
IMO it does look better with the filler plate in, but sometimes the hassle isn't worth the look

I have been having trouble getting mine off. I removed the two screws from the bottom, but the top still seemed stuck. Do I have to remove the bolts that hold the license plate on as well? (There's a plate mounted under the cover if that makes a difference.) I need to get it off so I can pass inspection, but it's going right back on afterwards.

I searched for license plate cover and got jack, that's why I asked... anyway I'll dig around and pull it off tomorrow... I'm hoping the plate is already there since I don't want to have to go get new plates.
