how do you properly remove window tint? the tint shop said it would be $70 to get my windows stripped, so i guess theres more to it than just peeling it off. any help or how-to would be appreciated, im not about to pay someone $70 to make my car look worse bc of a stupid tint ticket.

 

from what i hear it takes a heat gun, adhesive remover, and alot of time. one question though, if you already got the ticket why bother taking it off. i have seen this done alot and it saddens me. maybe i am lucky but i have been running no front plate for 5 years and window tint for 2 or so (im 20 now) and i have only been issued one ticket total. $25 well spent if you ask me. good luck with everything

p.s. search for a site called tint dude or something like that. i think they hsave alot of info on tinting and untinting windows.

 

well its a do or die kinda thing. if i remove the tint, the fine will be dropped....if i leave the tint, it will be a $450 fine. so, im gonna remove it myself and get it redone at 27% to stay legal.

so either leave it and pay $450, or take it off and redo it for like $120. thanks for the info, i found that site and ill follow those instructions on it. wish me luck.

 

Spray ammonia on the tint, then tape up a black garbage bag under the window, and then close the hatch. Put the car in the heat for a sunny day and let the ammonia do the work.

well im sor sure gonna do the 2 side windows.....thats as easy as peeling it off and scraping the adehesive off with a razor blade. that rear window seems kinda scary tho, so im just gonna let that get done professionally

 

use a HEAT GUN.....did rear window in 15 minutes,tint had been on 4 years ...NO problems....

 

heat gun and razor and soapy water worked for me

 

The rear window can be tinted as dark as you want, it is only the front two that cant be tinted.

 

take a pic of the same car as your without tint and bring it 2 court, thats what i do =)

 

different states have different laws....in SC, the rear can only be 20% and the sides can only be 27%.


i cant take apic of the car....the car has to be present the day of the court date so they can phyically see the change. i was gonna get a pic of my car photoshopped, but i found this out later. beblieve me, ive thought of everything, and nothing will work but strip it and redo it legally. F tha popo.
