Default Dealer Sticker

I've been wanting to take of the dealer decal off my bumper for a long time now. I bought the car new in 02 and typically the car has been garage kept or under a car cover. My car is black, I live in NJ so obviously I don't have scorching sun rays all year around. Do you think if I remove it will there be a fade line around where it use to be?

It shouldn't. You'll be fine. Just take your time.

I just recently took the dealer decal off the rear of my car. It's been on there since I bought it in 99!! I heated it up with my wife's hairdryer (shhhh) and peeled it off with my fingernail. Then went over it w/claybar to remove excess goo. Can't even tell it was there.

Slackers...that's ALWAYS the FIRST thing that comes off any vehicle I own when I get home! Most dealer decals are tacky and ugly anyways.

i am a car dealer and go to alot of auctions and purchase cars off of car lots for resale, and they ALWAYS put their stickers on. the hairdryer method works good. i have been using a liquid called mineral spirits and that stuff is great. just soak a rag rub the decal and it just rolls off, you can also use the same rag to remove the extra goo. just my .02 cents...

Actually I think it's slacking to let them put them on the cars at all and to drive home with it on. But in my defense the dealer decal isnt that bad, just kinda dont want it anymore.

As I always have said, simply tell the dealer that you would be happy to advertise his dealership for a monthly fee equal to or greater than your monthly car payment and that sticker will come flying off!

On all of the cars my family has gotten, a simple request to have the decal removed before we take the car home was all that was needed.

I got my car brand new and was lucky enough that the dealer didnt put any type of advertisements on my car. It was nice!

Not saying this method doesnt work, but personally I wouldnt use a razor blade or any similar tool to remove a decal.

Heat it up w/ a hair dryer/heat gun and peel it back w/ a finger nail instead. This method is insanely easy, and fairly idoit proof.

If you follow the razor method, be VERY VERY VERY carefull w/ a it (even w/ a lot of moisture from a spray wax, windex, goo gone etc) to not scratch or possibly go too deep into the clear coat.

I wouldn't touch my paint with a razor. I have a couple scratches in the clear from the holding tape when I put on my hockey stripes and I was trying to be super careful to only lightly score the tape. A razor is just asking for damage!

I always tell the dealer to not put a sticker on the car, if they want the sticker on the car they canpay me to advertise for them.

In some states it is actually illegal for dealers to put a decal on a car. All they can do in Washington is install their license plate frames.
