use a heat gun (or hair dryer if you dont have a heat gun) and/or some baby oil or rubbing alcohol

Rubbing alcohol and a little elbow grease has always worked for me. If that doesn't work, you could try some 3M adhesive remover.

3M makes a good sticky residue remover, and i have also been told that rubbing alcohol works really good but you have to wash the car immediatly afterwards and wax the spot really good.

Ok well i just went outside and took some decals that i didnt like off the black T-top part behind the sail panel, i used water, rubbing alcohol, and turtle wax along with a regular dish towel and first scrubbed with the water got the gunk all bunched up scraped some off with my fingers, then used the rubbing alcohol to get the rest you really have to put some elbow grease into it. then waxed the area and bam looks like new no sign that a decal was even there.

may have to heat the glue substance up to get it to come off, or try the 3m stuff.

Lighter fuel works well. It doesn't damage the paint clearcoat either.
