lt1 t/a taillights How do you remove the red plastic on the lt1 taillights to make them clear? I've seen it done on many occasions but have no idea how they did it.

you mean mine??
well when you take out the lights you will see on the back side that there is two pieces to it. just take a small flat head and slowly pry them apart. than clean off all the sealant and reapply new sealant. let dry and there ya go. i used led bulbs that light red that way it looks completely clear sitting there until they turn on.

had a cop even compliment them that has a TA lol.

if you took out the red part, then when they light up dont they just show the bulb entirely and not spread the light.from the look of it the red bard is a blury thick peice of plastic ment to spread the light.

it spreads the light perfectly. the main reflector is behind the bulb. while yes the bulb looks a bit brighter but it gives it a very unique look driving behind it.
