This is a very good topic for me to review when the hood goes into testing. As long as the stability of the hood is maintained, the more ways to evacuate heat the better. We will have to look at that though.

Heat is less important than lift. Too much induction will cause lift. It's already a bottom breather, that means lots of air under the hood area. Putting more vents in high pressure areas isn't a good idea. (the base od the windshield is high pressure, that's why (and how) cowl induction hoods work)

I currently have the rear heat extractors in that location on my Raptor hood and have no problems. In fact I can actually see heat coming off the windshield when it is cold out.
As for the lift I don't really see that being a major concern with the amount of ventilation that this hood will have; however these are all great considerations for the test hood when it is completed. Thanks a lot for the input, and please keep it coming!

I agree, and I have to say that the reason the aftermarket is still in gear has to do with boards like this one, and others like it where the fan base is still wanting new things and brings this attention to the manufacturers.

Thank you for your input for the new hood; however when building something it is to be expected that one can not please everyone all the time. There are plenty of others that do like the hood, and I am sure they will enjoy their purchase just like you have enjoyed yours.

Hey Rex, how about looking at the firehawk hoods , i love the sleek lines , the intakes are just as big, but the hood needs to be raised to give more depth to the nostrils almost like the slp h.o hood but not the squarish. And the hood meets the nose perfectly on the firehawks no overlap.
Make it higher, put on the mechamesque heat extractors and you have one Bad looking hood that has clean lines. Trans Am's need to look fast and sleek standing still.
Just my 2 cents , i would love to see what you come up with!

I'm not big on the Mecham heat extractors. I can understand if this is the direction you go to offer something new, but I would prefer a Firehawk/Raptor type hood like Roger use to make.

whatever you do Rex....make sure you make something similar to the SUPERHAWK style hood that Roger at US Exotics made once but never got to produce in large quantities...
i believe he stopped making it due to his other projects with vipers, road race cars, or lotus cars? etc etc...anyways me and alot of people on this board think that SUPERHAWK style hood is the best looking hood ever made for trans ams/firebirds...and for everyone reading if you've ever seen one u know what im talking about, if not look it up
honestly i really think you should put some serious time into the design of a superhawk style hood, but of course change it up alittle bit...I would love to see your version of the superhawk Roger made..but with some heat extractors...DAM that would be amazing..and i would be the first one throwing my money at you for it..
good luck with everything and keep us posted
