Well, the first generation FIREBIRD started 1967, but the TRANSAM started in 1969, so you could call that a special edition that stuck around

There are several in the 2nd generation:
1976-black and gold 50th anniversary of pontiac
1977-1981-black and gold SE Edition "smokey and the bandit car"
1978-Solar Gold edition
1977-79 DKM Macho Trans am "not factory"
1979-10th anniversary "most exspensive trans am ever built"
1980-Indiananapolis pace car replica "turbo"
1981-NASCAR pace car replica "turbo"
1980-1981 "Turbo Trans am" not really a special edition but could be ordered with a turbocharged 301ci.

Royal Bobcat built some mean Pontiacs in the 60's. I saw a 67 or 68 Firebird that was a Royal car. It had a 428 engine. Royal also built alot of GTO's with bigger engines. Let me know if you need any other info. I have been a Pontiac nut since I was 15.
