Default mr gasket locking hood pins installed.

Well I got them on. It would of been 10 times easier had they been no locking as I had to take a huge chunk out of the bottom side of the hood too, to fasten the lock down. I tested them up to 150mph and the hood is about the same sturdy wise without the latch assembly that they tell you to use with the pins. Im daring so I tossed it. Well this is how it looks.

In my opinion, they're not cool unless you absolutely need them. Even then, they're not really cool or good-looking, just more of a necessity.

I think they look alright. Can we get a pic of the underside of the hood you were talking about and maybe some more detail as to what the procedure was for mounting these.

I have always been a fan of hood pins, looks good, and I just wanted to throw a point out to the guys that are saying "why do you need them?" and "they're not cool unless you need them". We'll I guess you are knocking almost every production line muscle car from the 60's and 70's considering that hood pins were not a necessity but a optional accent piece. Next time think about the way you chose to critique something.

You can also open the hood without going inside the car the unless you had the locking ones...so then it served a purpose

haha, lets put it this way. You could have ordered your hood with or with out hood pins either way your hood had the same hood latch. Therefore, it was not necessary for the hood pins to hold the hood down.

Well the hood popped on me at about 140 on the highway. The safty latch caught it.

Change your latch mechanism while you're at it. its cheap insurance. The springs inside wear out . You're lucky the latch just didn't get ripped out

Well then I guess having an aftermarket fender and bumper cover ruin it too. Or, maybe the ss hood off of a different ss....or maybe putting a hurst shifter in when it wasnt optioned on the car. Oh and the fernco imo looks better than an accordian in the place. But if you want to get your panties in a bunch thats fine by me. Im just trying to show how it looks and tell about my experiance with it incase somebody may want to "ruin" their car.

Good point and I agree about what you said, although I still don't think they look all that great. They're typically seen as something from older times or for cars that need them, hence why most of us see them that way. Doesn't mean we're knocking older production cars, seeing as it was part of the style back then. If we were knocking them, why would people be putting Cragars and TTII-style wheels, blacked out tail panels, and billet grilles on cars? We chose to critique something because of the way we see it and our own personal opinions, not based on optional parts of older cars.

And to the original poster: If it makes you happy... good. Because that's all that counts.

My lovely girlfriend says it looks like nipples.

-Now I'm a fan of nipple, but they look much better on Women ***** than they do your hood.

Any pics of the underside of the hood? I've always wanted to see what these look like from underneath.

I love how lazy people are about taking pictures lol. I've ran outside bare foot in my boxers at midnight in 40 deg weather to snap pictures of things people have wanted before, and most people can't pop their hood ( you especially with your fancy hood pins, you don't even have to go inside your car ) and snap two pictures, and close the hood, take a max of 2 mins from going out to the car, taking the pictures, and getting them onto your pc. another 3 to post them tops.
