Default Custom Center Console

Made some changes to the center console. Here's some pics after I finished wet sanding it. Just about ready for paint. Major mods include:

1) No more cupholder
2) No more ashtray or ashtray lid
3) No more little storage compartment at the front.
4) Switch plate has been molded into the ashtray compartment.
5) Irregular hole in front is for the pushbutton starter.

Thanks, this one was more work than I really like!! It will be getting the Cadillac Redline Pearl Metallic paint to match the rest of the trim.

Very cool...even if you wouldn't have said it, I would have known that that hole was for a push button starter I remember doing that long ago

Trade secret I just used some think plastic sheet material bonded to the underside of each hole I wanted to fill. Then used body putty and glazing putty to smooth it out. Even the little notch on the passenger side of the console by the cup holder is filled and smoothed.

Nice work. I'm a big fan of subtle/tasteful appearance mods like this. Once painted, its gonna look killer man.

Thanks, I'm a fan of subtle mods too. Makes you look twice wondering what the hell is different. The 4 holes are for 4 rocker switches.

That's what the console used to look like.

I would like to see a guage next to your push button start, I have one there, so I guess I am biased. I think it would set it off unless you are putting a decal there or something it is too big a space to leave just black.

One of 2 things will be going there. Either a fuel pressure guage, which is why I filled it in, so it would have a good mounting base OR a pair of 1969 "SS" emblems. Definitely did not plan to leave it blank, just the base for finishing touches.

Should be done this weekend if all goes well and I don't run out of paint. This freakin' color is EXPENSIVE!! $88/pint because it's a 3 stage paint.
