Front Plate ;[ I just took my front plate off, and the car looks 100x better. To anyone who lives in a place where you are not required to have a plate in the front, I hate you. I asked my brother (cop) about the fine for not having it in MN and he said the MINIMUM was 120 bucks, what a joke!

I have had mine off for 3 years now and only been pulled over once. The cop was nice enough to let me off with a "fix it" ticket though. So I put it on and got it signed off, then promply took it off.

I had a front plate on my Trans Am for the last year and half. Got a filler panel and had it painted with my hood. It looks SOOOOOOO much better with the Bird there and no plate. Actually, for the first 5 months, I left it empty. I think that was even worse then a plate being in there. A big giant hole with two license plate screws hanging out. Even though I've never been pulled over for it (knock on wood), I wish Ohio would get rid of front plates. Does anyone know how many states have front plates? I thought I read somewhere it was something low like 6 or 7 states.

California, does, been pulled over for it 3 times. 1st question asked all 3 times was how much I had to drink? Its all just a reason to get u pulled over to the side of the road. No tickets for any of them...(knock on wood)

I was pulled over once, but I just told him I couldn't put it on because there is no mounting for it, then showed him and he was like ok and let me off. LOL Actually a cool cop. BTW I live in NorCal where there isn't very many cool cops. Also I now keep my plate in my car so i can throw it up there just in case I get pulled over. Worked for my brother, cop pulled him over for no front plate and he put it in his windshield before the cop pulled him over and the cop couldn't write a ticket, cuz as long as it on display its legal.

Yea, it is a bunch of BS? I hear you guys on this one. If you were a cop on the road and looked in the rear view mirror you couldn't see the plate. If you were looking at a parked car it would only take 3 seconds to walk to the back!

take some risks people, you should have all read that line on the contract you signed when you got your car.

We require front plates here in Colorado too. I did see somewhere a clear plate cover that you can get. I may get that. Any one else have them or pics of them on. Looks just like the original just clear.

I live in NJ and i was only bothered for it once ever in my old car. and i didnt even get a ticket he just told me to put it on there when i go home. my gf actually went threw NJ inspection with it in the window of her thundrbird and they didnt bother her for it

You need one now in Washington. As of a couple years back. It's not so much for rear view mirror identification by a cop but for the intersection cameras being put up. One picture of your plate and one of you driving the car while you're running the red sent to you with a request to pay for your little transgression... Somebody told me you don't have to pay those particular tickets though. You can refuse on some nice loophole. I'm sure the ticket won't say that though.
Man, I got pulled over twice in the first two weeks of owning the car for no front plate. Needless to say, I have a front plate on there now, it doesn't look too bad, but not good. I used the mounting kit that SLP sells and it's much less offensive than the stock bracket IMHO.
