If I remember correctly, it has a 5.3 crank in a LS1 block, which makes it a a destroked LS1; made really good power as well.

Yeah, made pretty good power.

On top of that, it's just a gorgeous car.

If I remember correctly, they did it as memory of the 302 that was in the 1st gen Z28's.

Its a throwback to the legendary DZ-302 cars that ran the NMCA Trans Am circuits back in the late '60s. I bet that destroked LS1 could run to 8000rpm, man that would sound absolutely incredible!

Why would anyone destroke a car that's just for show? This certainly wasn't an oval track car that needed to run at crazy rpm's, was it?

Different strokes for different folks.

I doubt it. It was built to commemorate the DZ-302 cars, hence it should have a 302 in it. And the only way to get a 302 LS1 is to destroke it. The purpose of this car isn't to turn crazy RPM's, its for commemorative purposes.

I doubt the car has ever seen a track, it's probably sitting in a museum somewhere.

Ya think?

Nah, it just looks a little different than other F-bodies with the badging and Manta. Plus those wheels look awsome on there.

All I can say is that is one sweet ride I had the opportunity to go for a spin in that beast with Tom Henry one day. She lined up against the other GM car the 2001 ZL-1 that they had oh and she was pretty darn fast too I didn't think the on ramp would come to and end so quickly

That was pretty cool they were doing ride alongs with that. I missed the boat the night it was out quite a few years back. But I did get to meet and talk with Scott Settelmire(sp?).
