Default Coke Takes Bugs Off! What???

So I just got a 2000 T/A and I've tryed to wash it and get all the bugs off the front of it buy just using disk washing soap because I've been told that this was the best way to take off all the crap on your car but the bugs are not really coming off very well. There is still that bug guts on my car and my friend told me to pour coke of it and it should take them off. Now first off has anyone else heard this and if so does it work? Also what are some other good ways to take this **** off my car?

Yeah, Coke is acidic as hell. I'm sure thats not good on your paint. It also eats off battery corrosion on terminals. Also, dish soap takes wax off so thats not good either. Have you tried any of the bug/tar removers?

I currently use Zaino products. I clay-barred mine last fall, and put a couple coats of Zaino protectant on afterwards. Granted, my car does not get very dirty, but any dirt, bugs, etc washes off real easy now.

Get the bug chuncks of bug guts off first with a bottle of Bug & Tar remover.

Then wash the car completely, with car wash soap. Claybar the paint after the wash, to remove the tiny, left over stuff that the B&T remover and car wash didn't get rid of.

Then throw a good coat of wax on the car. Meguires NXT is great, I use it regularly, and it leaves the paint extremely smooth. I can throw a dry towel on the hood and it will slide right off the front of the car. Bugs and road grime have much less chance of actually sticking to the paint.

The good ones shouldn't. That kind of defeats the purpose of using a product designated just for removing road grime. Other cleaning products will work just as well, but B&T remover is supposed to be safe on the paint. Whether or not it takes the wax off, I'm not sure on that one, but from the few times I've used it (Turtle Wax brand) I'd say it isn't too bad.

They say you place a wet towel on the bugs for a bit and the bugs will wipe right off.

I have heard that wd-40 works really good on removing grime and bug guts. I have never tried it but other people swear by it.

Just go to a car wash and power wash them off. at a high psi of water pressure, it doesn't take long at all!!

it works, if you park in the shade and let the soap do it stuff, they should melt off. Claybar the little specs that are left

There is bug & tar remover for clearcoats, now. Spray that on, let it set. Wash the car with soap and water. If it's still there, take a claybar to it. Claybar will take the nastiest of insects off. Then wax so they don't stick next time

claybar is a good solution .. there are a couple of bug and tar removers available, but I have not found one that I am in love with.

One of the tricks I use a lot is to soak the bug with a quick detailing spray for several minutes, then try claybarring, and sometimes a little cleaner wax if needed .. just make sure whatever you are using will not scratch your paint, either by itself, or by using the bug guts as sandpaper.

claybar should be more of a last resort.. or unless you are preping for a stage of polish. youl get swirls..not technically swirls but it will look like them but in long streaking motions from the clay. try something simplier first.

if done correctly, you will NEVER get anything like that from a claybar.. if you do , you are doing something wrong.

and to clarify on using a clay bar for bugs .. you use it after you have washed the car properly, to remove any remaiing residue. you don't start out with the bar ..
