Default Guage mounting....

Ok, im getting ready to start collecting parts for the build up.. starting with the guages. I cant decide whether i want to mount them in a pillar or AC vents. I will be needing 3 guages, elec fuel press, mech boost, and wideband O2. Here are some of my views....

Pillar...
-everyone can see it from outside the car, easy to mount, keep all my AC, there all together

AC vents
- i could only use the 1 AC vent on the left of the wheel
- no one can see from outside of car
- looks cooler IMO

Now... i dont use AC much if at all, however, if need be, how would just the 1 vent do on the left? Im oging to drive around today and see just how 1 vent does.

Another concern... while driving, i need to be able to see the guages decently without staring all around. Pillar seems better for this.... How do you guys with guages i ncenter AC vents see your guages... is it a pain and out of the way?

So... mount all 3 in a triple pillar pod?
or
Mount all the in my 3 center AC vents?

Post up your opinions and vote please, thanks!

Triple pillar or a double pillar and far left AC vent. I am not crazy about the way all the gauges look on the pillar mainly cause I see it on hondas rolling around with nonworking gauges mounted on the pillar. But this is the best place for visibility and that is why I use pillar mounts.

wouldnt that be hard with the guages everywhere tho to keep track of all of them? I just want to figure out my plan so i can start ordering some guages since the vents and pods are different sizes

My train of thought is this. If you see the pod gauges the easiest, then put the most important there and vis-a-versa. Maybe wideband in the vent and fuel pressure and boost in the a-pillar. Just my opinion

Here was a option I came up with when I needed a bit more. Still have use of the glove box and cup holder and it dose not get in the way of the air bag. Able to use stock mounting locations from dash pad and radio.

This is a mounting plate I made for another member.

The triple pillar really does the job if your looking for some action. Even more so in a convertible with the top down. It also has a very factory installed appearance and you don't give up an A.C. vent.

I have the triple pillar set up. the one thing I have found is that I rarely look at any gauges during a pass (the shift light is my friend) as I am too busy looking down the track!

I can get an AEM wideband in the size for the triple pillar, should i just go with that and stick all 3 in a pillar so there all right there? Car is mainly a street car so i want to be able to see the guages all close to each other...

That's not a bad idea either, but there is no excuse for dirt

The Dynojet Wideband Commander gauge is made by Autometer so you get a perfect match to go with the 200 MPH Granetelli speedo. Also a rear pic with the top down.

That is a very nice set up, would you mind sending me a PM on how you made the front filler plate into a grill type, looks much cleaner than no plate. Thanks

I had a dual pillar in my last car w/ one guage in the left ac vent. And in my current car I have the tripple pillar. I prefer the triple pillar personally.
