ok so i think i'm finally getting the ***** up to paint something on my car.

i love the CETA mod on the back of the T/As and i want to do something different on a firebird from everyone else. you don't see anybody with a MINI CETA on the back of their cars...i think i've seen like 2 on this site so there can't be many out there...

what do you think? paint the area around the license plate FLAT black or GLOSS black?

PS anyone that's good at photoshop i was also thinking about doing the B pillar too...photoshop for both would DEFINATELY be appreciated.

i did it a few days ago (im the mystic teal bird from that other thread) and i love it. I get my camera back tomorrow so if its not too dark when i get it ill post some pics, otherwise def by wednesday

 

oh yea. a word of advice. when u tape off around the seam, try to only put the tape so far in the seam so that it still kinda forms a right angle with the back of the car, if u follow what im sayin lol. I put it basically to the center of the seam. I love the way its looks, but it made me alittle nervous pullin the tape off cuz the paint was ontop of it, so it wrinkled up the edges of the paint. It dried fine however and I used a small paintbush and shot some of the clear into the cap and brushed some clear along the seam just so that nothing would get chipped with the paint. WOW that was longer and more confusing than i hoped for. hopefully u follow it and DEFINITELY do it, its well worth it

the main thing i'm worried about now is if it will look right with nothing else black on the car. i'd love to get the b pillar pained like spuds did his...but i don't have that kinda money...sooo...i dunno...

 

well based on ur pics u have ur filler panel blacked out. cant tell if u have ur tails blacked out or not since ur lights are on (at least they look on) lol. If ur tails ARE blacked out then it will def match. Might match even with just the fill panel blacked out. Gettin home from work at 415, washin the car, pickin up the parents from airport, then its pic time since i been promisin lol. Ive also been thinkin bout painted the sail panel black like spuds, but im not sure if that will make too much black. Ill have to photoshop it tonight maybe and see

 

I'm considering doing the mini-ceta as well, but in gloss black. After all, the filler, taillights and Pontiac inserts have a gloss-look to them

 

yup, i went gloss black. the clear coat took away some of the shine cuz i put alot so it would be protected, but it looks great. gotta reclear my vht tails with duplicolor clear (alot glossier than krylons clear for some reason)

naw jpticar my tails aren't blacked out and i want to shine the middle rear piece a bit to make it stand out more...and if i do this mini CETA mod i'm definately going to go gloss black since like you said...everything else has a gloss apperance to it.
