Yes, !side moulding is almost always the right thing to do.

Not necessarily. You never know what's under that paint unless you are the original owner. And especially since yours is a '93 I would be especially careful. Here's what my friend did not know about his car when he took his side molding off:

do it! i recently did mine, but i didn't just rip it off. i used fishing line, ran it behind the molding to cut them off, used my thumbs to peel off all the left over adhesive on the door, then used gas to rub off all the resedue from the adhesive. took about an hour
