Here are the pics of the area mine leaked and I just coverd the tiny crack with the sealant. I got in the hatch area with a flashlight and let someone run over the hatch with water until I saw a tiny stream. Used a mirror to see in parts I couldn't and traced it to that crack. Sealed it up and good ever since........

I hope this helps. I will get the name of the sealant I used when I get home from work. It's like a hi-temp RTV black sealant.

Okay. We may be on to something. I have a small spot like that too! I will get pics later but was it noticeable? What I see on mine looks so small I never thought it was leaking. What sealer? I went over a couple of other little spots safelite uses for glass when I was there. He said some RTV's will make rust. I may visit a shop supplier and/or get seam sealer from NAPA. I know it is intended for that.

The crack was so small that at one angle I couldn't even tell it was a crack. It just looked like an angle of the metal or a tiny shadow. The other angle I could barely see it. Took a needle and stuck it in crack to be sure that was it. It stormed all night and the next day I opened hatch and 3" worth of puddle. I was like, WTH?!?!?! Before I found it, I took the rear lights and panel off and used the sealer on every tiny little crack and crevice that had split in the seam-sealer. You'd be surprised how many people have these and never know it. I ran water over it again and it still leaked. That's when I got inside car with flashlight and mirror and had a friend run water over it until I found it. I used the only thing I had at the time. It's the same stuff that glass replacement businesses use around windshields and such.

You can see the area untouched. I then used a light in inside the quarter to find the hole. I stuck a tube through it to show size and snapped a picture of the water. Sorry it is just a phone camera! Last pic is after I buttered it with the NAPA sealer. No light visible after and I plan on doing a second coat before painting. Thanks for the help Onyx!

That's great man! Glad you found it and hope that was the only prob and it's fixed now. Really glad I could help. I remember how relieved I was when I found it and fixed my prob. Although I was thinking about the goldfish thing for a bit when my first attempts failed, LOL.
