Default Water(a lot) in the rear hatch wear the ttops go

I popped my back hatch to get something out of the back and there was about 3 inches of water in the bottom(where the ttops go). I've never noticed it leaking or anything. however, it did rain nonstop for about 24 hours....I vacuumed all of the surface water, is there anything else i can do?

Leave the hatch open outside, if it's not still raining, and stick a fan in there maybe. I know I'd want to aerate and dry it out as much as possible because could you imagine the smell of mold forming?

That happened to me 2 days ago. Get a towel and soak up the water. get another towel and let it sit there all day. no smell, not water, no problem.

but HOW THE **** did it get there??

seriously, it happened in the ttop spot and the rear passenger footwell in my other camaro on the same night.

When you pop the hatch, look at the metal above the the tail lights, in the corners. There is a "drain" of sorts there. Make sure that there isn't anything right there blocking that. Also, check the rubber weather stripping around the hatch, thats the only place I could think that it would get in. Where there any streeks or anything that would show where water was running down the window in the hatch? That spot is the lowest spot in the car. Water could come in around the top of the hatch by the roof and run down the inside of the hatch and drip in that spot.

I would start there and see where it goes from there. Hope this helps.

Wierd. I have never noticed any signs of a leak either, but today opened the hatch and found bout 2 inches of water puddled up. I plan on getting out the water hose and tracking it down.

people this siv ery simple. towards the front of the hatch (front as in roof) water pools there. depending on how the car is parked, water will either drain into the back seats, or in the t-top holders. I finally figured it uot when i first got my Z and some extra weather stripping glue can help because i noticed when i shut my hatch the weather stripping would push away and let water come in.

Above the taillights theres a black piece that channels the water and has a hole in it. On my TA I just enlarged the holes and problem was fixed

Had the same thing happen once. Never did find out what caused it. I've had the car for 5 years and it rains heavily on a regular basis here in fl but its only happened once and never again since then. The only thing I could thing of was that maybe the hatch was not closed all the way.

Did that. Not a drop anywhere. It isn't even getting the sides or back wet... just showing up in the pan.

Mine did it once, but I never figured out why. My guess is it had something to do with the way the gasket seals when the hatch is shut, because 99.9% of the time it never leaked.

I mentioned that in another post and as an experiment I am going to leave a door open when closing the hatch to see if it makes a difference.

Had the same prob and tracked in down with a water hose. Water was getting in where the factory drain is suppose to route it in the corner of the 1/4 panels where all the metal meet together in weird shapes. I'll get pics and post later tonight when I get off work for you. I found a tiny crack in the seam sealer that was letting the water in. I blocked that tiny crack with a sealant, which I will also have the name for you when I post pics, and it's been dry as a bone ever since.
