Default Car show display stand

Just checking to see what kind of interest there would be on a car show display stand.

This is the kind you would see at Auto shows and dealerships. It's a good place to show your window sticker instead of putting it on the dash, or on your window (for those with tinted we are out of luck)

The stand is metal (and sturdy) and it slides up under your tire of your car (or you can drive your car tire over it, to make it nice and secure so it will not move or blow around). The display stand has a plexi glass top where your car's window sticker will slide into.

The base is gloss black (we may offer an optional paint matched GM colors). We might also offer different logos on the stand, ect..

The cost will be approx $100-$150

Just tossing around the idea to see if there is any interest.

Thanks
Sean

I would be interested in something like that but would not want to spend that much money. Im kind of a cheap a$$. I was looking at this one for a cheaper price. Not being trying to be a dick but can you tell me why yours would be a better deal for the extra $$ ?

i think the one first posted looks to have more class.
the afterthoughts auto one looks good, and seems to have more canvas to work with BUT looks kinda cheap-ish...where as the one being sold here is smaller, but looks more proffessional.
i dont know why i just said all that...just ramble i guess. TTT

The afterthoughts auto one is the reason why I am thinking about making these. After seeing them in person they are small, the wind will blow them over and to be honest they look cheap (they are mader from plastic).

Again just tossing around the idea nothing is firm.

As for the wood idea sure you could but with the good quality metal they will last, the long lip on the bottom slides under your tire to secure it from moving or blowing over.

I'd rather spend that much money on mods.

Nice idea and looks very well made - but since you're asking - I made one very similar to this, out of the same materials, for around $26 (and my time of course).

Thanks for the feed back so far like I said it’s just an idea. I am looking at places that I can get good prices on the material. The frame itself is actually welded, and the steel needs to be strong enough that it does not flex (we don’t need people leaning on it or the wind causing it to bump into the car.

The other expense is the paint you are looking at $40 each to have them painted GM factory paint (you would be surprised how many people want them painted the same color as there cars) add in the material, with welding you are sitting at $90 if you add any logo’s you are right at $100 + shipping.

Anyway I am just exploring the idea my goal was to keep it affordable no more then $100 so we shall see.

Thanks again for the input.

Sean

You should also consider different size plexi areas, so those of us with SLP window stickers can put both the GM and SLP stickers inside of it, side by side.

if u just offer it in a semigloss black, a color simple and non clashing, that could cut down the cost some. other colors could be extra. still have a slighty extra cost option for emblems like the bowtie on the prototype. If u plan it out right, it could be made of one piece of metal bent to the shape. having no welding could cut down on cost also. If it was base priced down to around even 70, it might sell better. Something u might want to think about is to have one that can have a photo album mounted to. those of us that have done big buildups might want to display their album of progress pics.

Really, any fab shop can make those bases out of brake-bent sheetmetal. No welding required that I can see. Just have them painted flat black or sell them bare. People can paint them custom if they wish. The entire thing could probably be built for about $30-40 in materials.

The Afterthoughtsauto ones are cheap (you get what you pay for).

If you ever do car shows....you know that wind blows things over and people bump into things. It's not worth it to have your display hit and scratch up your car.

I'd be interested in one.....but I do have to agree with the people here. Find a way to cut your costs and the price a little....and then you'll have a real winner.

If you could get the cost down around $50 I would become interested real fast.
I am sure like myself, most of us have our own hookups to get it colormatched/customized our own way for next to nothing. Work on a cost efficient/base model and I think you will have a marketable product

I have looked at the Afterthoughts one before and wasn't impressed with it either.
