wet sanding question
Im finally going to take everyones advice and shine up my vht. THe only thing i dont understand is how a plastic polish is going to shine a painted clear coat. I looked at the tail light filler polishing sticky and that makes sense to me, but when I think about the vht and the clear coat on top of that I get confused. will sanding the clear coat and then putting plastic polish on it really shine it up like it does the filler paner?

why not just clear coat your vht, wetsand to a high grit, and lay a polish with a paint polish.
in fact, the meguiars plastic headlight polish i have says specificly to not use it on painted surfaces.

loochy- that sounds good. another idea i was lightly sanding to get rid of any imperfections, if need be I can spray a light layer of vht to hide any scratches from sanding and then just go to a body shop and have them automotive cleared. then I would be able to wax them along with the car. i have gotten wax on them before and it doesnt look great, it leaves a bit of a haze for a while. has anyone ever had there vht cleared at a body shop or have any comments about this?

before
after
this is using meguiars mirror glaze #10 clear plastic polish (had it layin around)
definitely is more reflective and shiny
and thats without sanding after clear (only have 1000 grit laying around) not fine enough paper available

From what i understand, you guys are putting plastic polish on paint. If i was you, I'd try wetsanding the paint/clear down working up to a high grit and use a PAINT polish like you would a car. Then that sucker would shine..

you can use any type of polish on it after you clear it. it would be just like a body panel of a car after you clear coat it, similar to buffing with a polishing compound. just clear over the VHT, cause it is a paint, then you can wetsand or just buff it with a compoun of your choice.
