Default Polishing the sailpanel

Is polishing the sailpanel like polishing any other painted surface or is it any different? I will hopefully be doing a complete exterior detail on my car this Friday and I would like to polish the sailpanel because it isn't looking so pretty anymore.

I've got Menzerna's Intensive Polish and Zaino Z2 & Z5. I've also got the Tropi-Care sampler pack. What would you recommend?

You can polish it like the rest of the car. But i would recommend mothers or meguiars.

Well if it's like polishing any other part of the paint, I'll probably just clean it up with some Z2.

Definitely clay bar it first. If it hasn't been cleaned well in a while, then it most likely has deposits and other nasties embedded in the paint.

Then what I do is Z5 then Z2.

I had the same problem. Try Mother's Back to Black and really work it, buff it off, then reapply as necessary. It worked great

so they're saying its painted, but you're saying its rubber, because isn't that what back to black is for. its painted correct? not a rubber part?

MMM....I don't know for sure which it is. I can say BTB removed a ton of oxidation. Mine looks practically new again.

I'm pretty damn sure it's painted, not just plastic. I'm going to use the Z5 and Z2 o nit while I do the rest of the car.

We are talking about the sailpanel (B pillar) right? and not the T-top divider bar, right?

Sailpanel - Painted
T-top divider - Plastic

well, mine is plastic. Just a shiny black plastic.

I still use a cleaner wax to get it nice and shiny and then put a coat of polish over it for durability.

Actually, I used the BTB on my divider and it worked well there too. I do feel stupid though. I had clayed and used cleaner wax on the car but, never thought to use it on the divider or sail. DUH!

T-Top divider I have is painted metal.
In fact I've got an extra sitting on my workbench right now.
It has rubber gaskets on each end, but the whole black t-top divider is metal.
