Default My new LS1!!!

Well I finally got a new LS1 to replace my junked WS6 (https://ls1tech.com/forums/paint-body-work/608695-i-wreck-last-night.html)
It's a 2002 navy blue metallic Z28 with all options, M6, and 59,000 miles. I'm getting $24k when they pick up the WS6 tomorrow and I bought the z28 for $14 so I have plenty of mod money!

The only thing done to this car is the original muffler was cut out and a flowmaster was welded in in it's place and new tips were added. There are a few problems with the car though. The taillights have melted in so I have a good pair from a junkyard in the mail right now. Either the clutch or the tranny is messed up because occasionally, second gear just grinds and grinds when I try to enter it. I'm taking care of it soon though. Also, there is a squeaking metallic sound coming from the car that gets faster as i go faster but I don't think it's breaks because the brakes are silent when I stop. I'm thinking either wheel bearings or u-joints. I'm gonna take it in asap to find out. Finally, the paint has pinstripes running down the side and lots of scratches. Luckily it doesn't look like any of them go through the clear so I'm gonna have Richey collision remove the pinstripes and wetsand out the scratches when they paint my new SS spoiler. I'm gonna have them paint the berger panel semi-gloss black while it's there too. Also someone jacked up the car improperly and the fenders stick out a little bit so I'm gonna have them fix that too. Once that's done, I'm installing the new Z06 style Z28 emblems I got from muffinbuster & the stainless steel lettering i got from him for the berger panel.

I took these pics the day I got it. Look at that disgusting engine bay!!!

I already started modding and it hasn't even been a week! I don't have pics yet but here is what I've done:

1. I pulled off all the stickers that had been put on, and I'm about to !molding and remove the z28 emblems.
2. I replaced the factory hurst with a pro5.0, umi short stick, & white shiftball
3. I had the windows retinted with llumar, the tint on the car had turned purple and was peeling
4. I pulled off the front grille and installed SLP's license plate holder that moves the license plate almost completely below the grill. I just got a metal grille but it's off being powdercoated black. I'm putting that on when i get it and attaching the big blue bowtie logo I got from classic industries.
5. I installed a TSP rumbler catback.
6. I installed the lid off my car, & the beautiful throttle body off my car from smokin87ta. I would have changed out the lower airbox too from my car but it wouldn't fit
7. removed CAGS
8. I seafoamed everything, and am going to be changing all the fluids very soon, along with new spark plugs, and swapping out the brand new MSD wires on my ws6 with the stockers on the z28

I also am about to install the TTM's I bought for my ws6. I also just got clear corners, an SS spoiler, and I'm installing the custom system I had made for my WS6. I have new stainless steel longtubes also sitting in the garage with an x-pipe that I will put on when I finish this semester at school (2 weeks). I'm about to order a textralia oz700 and when the tranny is pulled, it's bein sent to t-56 rebuilds for a stage 1 rebuild & the hydaulics are being changed. Somethin is wrong because occasionally, 2nd gear grinds TERRIBLY. I'm about to order a vfn hood, and after that, I'm doing a cam that I had specd by Patrick G with patriot gold springs, 7.450" pushrods, doubleroller timing chain, and ported oil pump. If I somehow have money left over, I'll get some heads and consider the car done. At least for a while!

I'm happy as hell finally!!! I'll definitely post up as the mods progress!!
-Chris

yeah, i havn't been able to clean it since I've been at school all week!
Tomorrow....she gets clean

I just can't believe how dirty the engine bay is though. The passenger side strut tower looks like it has orangish splatters on it. I mean, did they drive around with the hood off or something!?!? LOL

LOL my car was pretty dusty under the hood when I got it im surprised so many people never clean under the hood. I guess if you dont know much about them you might be afraid to get it wet.

Nice car, I'm partial to NBM cars so great pick. However I find it kind of silly that you paid 14k for a car that has either clutch/tranny problems as well as other minor things when you could have found a great car w/ no problems for 14k or less? Just seems kind of dumb to me.

I don't know where you would find an 01-02 for cheaper. I looked for weeks. I don't think they are problems that would bother most people but they do bother me because I want it to be perfect. t56rebuilds just thinks I have a bad clutch from what I've told them is happening, but i figure i might as well do the tranny too just for peace of mind.

Hell yes, CONGRATS !!! I like your mods

Now power wash that engine bay

Oh, I would NOT let them wetsand a factory paint job... If a good detail can't get the scratches out then they aren't coming out. I made the mistake of getting a factory car wetsanded before... They don't have enough clear and it will eventually fade the color FAST !!!
