I am not sure what year of car the ss hood came off of because I bought from a guy who was selling it for a friend....sorry, all I know is that it was black before I had it painted, and damn! that paint was pretty swirly and had a lot of chips, so it could have been from a slighty older car...maybe '98 or '99, thats just my guess, or maybe the guy did a ton of freeway driving...

My Suncoast Creations hood came with different struts directly from them. Let's just say that they are even a little too weak...I usually have to use a stick to keep the hood up. Tomorrow I'll take a look and check what the part number is on those.

I checked the struts on my SS and they are 100% for sure lighter duty than my struts on the firebird. Just for reference, the firebird came with the regular steel hood, the SS came with the SS hood.

So I assume it's the same way with the camaros? Someone needs to get both different sets and settle this once and for all. The SS struts I ordered ended up being aftermarket and didn't help me at all

Brian2006- If I were you I would just buy some SS hood struts. Mine do not throw the hood into the air, and the hood is very easy to close. I have never seen any ss hood with strut damage. And SS hoods are fiberglass if I'm not mistaken...
