Exclamation The Damaged My Car!

So, I take my car into to get brakes, lube change, new alternator, and PCM etc...Well they had the car for 3-4 days doing the work and somehow they managed to damage the unibody frame while lifting it etc...Well when they did that it bowed both front fenders out. The drivers side by 1 1/2 " and the passenger side by 1/4 " and it cracked the drivers side fender under the car about 4". So I bitched and they agreed to fix the car. Well, they bent the unibody (pinch weld) back straight and put braces on it. didn't replace any fenders and now everything is out of wack, nothing is lined up and where the fender matches up with the drivers side mirror is out of wack by like 1/2 " I talked to the boss again and he gave me to options, they will fix the car by putting two brand new fenders on it and then repainting the whole front half of the car and then feathering the paint on the doors to try to match the paint up. OR OPTION # 2 take $500 cash! Ok first off I want them to replace the fenders and then repaint the whole car so it matches. Or give me $2,000 cash. What do you guys think I should do? Should I report to my insurance company or something??

That's a pretty terrible situation man... I wouldn't settle for the $500 cash if all that stuff is out of wack. I would try and have them fix it or try to get more money out of them.

Tell the boss that you're ready to make an arrangment...

Choose one:

1) He takes the car to a body shop of your choice...
2) You accept $1250
3) You get a police report and sue him in small claims court for $3000 (costs/trouble)

Quick questions. Does your car have T-Tops? Did they lift the car without the T-Tops installed?

yea id deffinitly do that...i have the same problem with my car but it waas done beforei bought it... this happens on alot of these f-bodies... when you properly lift a unibody car your sopposed to use the pinch welds, but in a few cirtain applications your not sopposed to for reasons like this... youll deff wing the court battle if you file a report because go under your car and look at the plasic peice that is rite behind the pinchweld and it says "do no jack here" take a picture of that and your set... if you opt to get it fixed make sure its a reputable shop chances are this jerk is gonna try to take it to maaco or somthing....DO NOT BY ANY MEANS ACCEPT $500 for this... that might not even cover 2 OEM fenders which you should demand OEM parts not aftermarket because they fit like ***... plus your probaly looking about another$1000 at LEAST for the paint and prep work..... id say its a $1500 - $2000 (for a good shop) job....hope this helps you.... DONT SELL YOUR SELF SHORT.... im an autobody tech and iv worked for ******** that will try to get the easy way out.... dont let them... you have the upper hand

do you have a friend who's a lawyer? anyone in the family? or hire a lawyer, all you really need them to do is make a phone call and have him talk about you persuing litigation and his (the shop) options are slim if it goes to court; and that will probably scare the shop enough to do whatever you want

good luck

ya this happened to me recently. pep boys told us to get two quotes and bring them in. the quotes were to replace both fenders and paint the front end. it ended up at 1700 on the first and 2000 on the second. they r cutting a check this weekend for the average of the two. im keeping the money and pulling the fenders in and screwing them down. good luck getting ur car fixed.

Sorry, but asking them to paint the whole car is retarded... I agree they should have to put on new fenders and paint and blend what needs to be done.

When someone gets a new hood do they have to repaint the whole car for it to look right? Give me a break

Push your luck and the guy will tell you to go f@ck yourself and then you will end up two years down the road, $2000 out of pocket in small claims court and when the judge hears you turned down the guy's offer the replace the fenders and paint the front of the car he'll tell you to get the hell out of his courtroom and charge you court fees

They should replace and paint your fenders and at least blend the doors. This should all be done by a shop of your choice though not theirs.

You don't necessarily have to lift these cars by the Jack Spots.. use the Control Arm Supports, and the spots right behind the K-member, and you are good. T-top on/off you can do it that way, no problems there cause it's fully supported.
As far as your car goes bro, I would kick some ***, I wouldn't settle for **** unless the Car is straightened out, and everything fixed and painted.
