Any way to do this without cutting the wires?

I have a similar mod on the Grand Prix, but did it with a diode connecting between the relays....

OK i did the part for the fog lights, just the first part under the hood with the relay wire. According to this writeup, the foglights should operate while the high beams are on, well in my case that is partly right....whenever the high beams are on my foglights are actually on whether the switch is on or off, i can not turn the fogs off if the high beams are on. Is this the way this mods is supposed to be, because i was under the impression you would still have full control of your fogs

I grounded the side of the green wire coming out off the back of the fuse block/relay

I just did this, and my foglights will not turn off when my high-beams are on.

I'm thinking this is because I have yet to do the SECOND portion of the write-up, where you mess with the green wire on the foglight switch itself.

Correct, incorrect?

Looks like your headlights could use a good resurfacing. Mine had gotten pretty yellow and nasty looking too. After doing some wet sanding and buffing with a plastic polish mine are looking awesome.

Thanks for the write up! I was just wondering about that, I had read a while back of just cutting a wire at the fuse box but never thought it was that simple, thanks once again funkymonkeys409.

I did both of the mods the one under the hood and the switch in the car... and i have full control of my fogs...I can turn them on or off when the highs are on and when the highs are off... i think you probably have to do the switch in the car to have full control of the fogs thats my guess

You can fix them using wet sand paper..start with 1000, then 1500, then 2000, and finally 2500 grit ...start sanding using horizontal strokes with the first grit you use and then go to verticle strokes when sanding with the next grit.. than back to horizontal and so forth ... soak your paper for 5 minutes before you use it and use lots of water while sanding...after all the wet sanding use a plastic polish with a very soft cloth or micro fiber to bring it back to crystal clear..if it has hazy areas you need to go back and polish and maybe sand some more..you will see how it works when you get into it .. you can make them look brand new again but it will take some time and elbow grease to do it...you must be patient to get the results you are looking for ...

Just re-stumbled across this thread. I did this mod to my car a few years back, and it never worked right. When I hit the brights, the fogs will stay on, but the headlights cut off completely. Anybody else ever had this problem? I even re-connected the wire, and it still does the same thing. I am not sure how it does the same thing after putting it back to factory, but it does.

Question

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I didn't think I should make a new thread for this question. What gauge is the light green wire? I want to be certain I use the correct size quick splice. Thanks.

Don't forget to disconnect the negative battery cable when you do electrical mods. For example, I replaced my DRL sockets and afterward my interior lights stopped working. I had to replace the brake light fuse before my interior lights would work again haha.

Super old thread but the search function got me to it. Had to give props to the author of this thread. I did this mod today on my '95 Trans Am in about 20 minutes. Works great! Now I look cool with my lights on bright and dim. Good job and thanks for posting.
