Default corvette steering wheel in fbody?

ok, I broke my steering wheel (long story) so now I need to replace it.... is it possible to put a c5 or c6 wheel in an fbod? also is it pretty hard to swap a steering wheel because of the airbags (i gotta replace it anyways where can I find instructions)

No, it is not that difficult to swap a steering wheel, it takes a few minutes, but I wouldn't go for C5 or C6, it would look out of place IMO.

I've been looking for a long time trying to find out if a 2006+ Corvette wheel will fit. It would look so much better than the FBody wheel. Maybe I'll just buy one and find out myself.

I'm curious on how you broke the wheel. Did you use it for support while entering and exiting the vehicle? If so I'll need to find something else to grab onto.

well an idea for firebird/trans am people, check out the grand am steering wheel. ill bet it will fit easier than a corvette one, plus it has a pontiac dart on the air bag, and it looks 1000000000 times better than the TA steering wheel.

problem for us chevy guys is that the only nice chevy steering wheel is the corvette one, but it looks like its different.

also, i dont see a corvette wheel that has stereo controls in it, so youd loose that.

heres a comparison:

well the previous owner must have been using it to get in and out because i had the radiator and battery pulled and i needed to turn the wheel with no power steering and pop, it broke..... and I had someone pushing on the tire too for help....

and here's another question, if I buy a used steering wheel, should i get one with the airbag in it?

if your airbag is still good then get a wheel without. it should save you some money to get it without.

they are separate pieces as you can see from those pics i posted above.

i'm tempted to buy one and see if it will fit or not.

a c6 wheel or grnad prix wheel works , then you need the threaded part from the vette or grand prix , my brother did this swap years ago and still has an airbag .

Default Swap

Did some research, you need upper steering shaft (which has the different spline pattern) from 1st gen cts, vette, cobalt, g6, and so much more and “should” bolt in. Doesn’t seem too hard. Bouta find tf out.

upper shaft part number: 26074286

There are also customized steering wheels on ebay, but they are $1000. Basically double the price of similar options for nearly any other brand (for context similar steering wheels for my 2013 Mustang are $300-$600),

Here is a basic leather example:

Wow, the $1,000 steering wheel is just insane. I will admit is looks great and they offer to stitch with colors if requested, but it better not be any additional cost for that. Its nice it is OEM based so fitment or function won't be an issue but still, for that cost vs what you get...
