HID lights in reflector housing when not equipped that way stock = illegal
Edit: answered my own question
Those are HID bulbs in a reflector housing that is not designed for HIDs....

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Epic-yours look nice...
And no, I don't have HIDs in my Firehawk and don't plan to as the headlights are down 80% of the time it's driven

Also 8000K HID bulbs are only slightly brigher than some halogen.... FWIW
I've done a lot of research in to HID automotive lighting in general in preparation of my project...

Yes they are bright. And while they might be "better" than your stock headlights, thats not all that matters. I promise you... other drivers are being blinded by those lights, or atleast annoyed. I dont care how far down you aim them. HID light is a totally different animal and a halogen housing just takes the light and throws it all over the place.
I got a set of infiniti fx35 bi-xenon projectors to retrofit into my 87. That way Ill have nice sharp cut off, and WAY more light in usable areas. Plus Ill retain my high beams, and wont have to have a separate bulb, and I wont be throwing glare all over...
As for being pulled over... a buddy of mine had H4 conversion housings in his jeep along with an hid kit. Got pulled over and they really put him through the works. Its kind of like other mods... My exhaust is totally illegal. I havent been pulled over for it yet. But that doestn mean I wont. And if I do, Ill probably be in for it.
Just sayin... not tryin to argue or get the thread locked or deleted.

I see no reason why your post should be deleted or locked. You are stating the facts just as I was. I thank you for bringing up your points as well. I agree that it is a shame that no one makes a true projector w/ HID swap kit for our cars, but throwing HIDs in reflector housings is just
IMO and the police are starting to get wise to this as well... And unlike driving with your exhaust uncapped and just closing it when a cop comes after you, turning your headlights off won't work...P.S. ghettocruiser that is one nice thirdgen

However, I get nothing but compliments and spent a great amount of time to make sure they aren't blinding to those coming in the other direction. For the record, some luxury vehicles on the road have a horrible spread that is blinding to oncoming traffic. I concur that the light does give out too much of a spread, but as long as it's angled down, the only things you're blinding are animals.
Agree to disagree. I think they came out awesome.
And this is why I This way the technical information is still out there for others to read, search for, and draw on.
P.S. 8000k light spectrum and the HID turn-on flicker is still
Thanks for the props on my car!
They do make a true projector housing for my headlight size...5064s. Only thing is, they are like $900... Just silly if you ask me.
Just like you 4th gen guys... Its like 1000 bucks for a projector kit.
Ill post up a thread once I get started on my retro...hopefully they come out half decent.
