Rattle Can Vs Powdercoat
I boutght some LCAs and a PHB a while back, but have been waiting to put them on untill I get them painted red to match the rest of the suspension when I put it on. I wanted to get it powdercoated, but my funds do not allow it at the moment. I have quite a bit of the high temp engine paint left from when I did my intake manifold and I was wondering if it would have any downsides to using that to paint them myself. Obviously Id have to be careful and sand it pretty well after every step, but other than that would there be any problem with doing this?

just scuff them up real good so the paint can grab onto it and do a couple of coats and you should be good for a while. ive used that method on several sets of rims and they seem to last pretty long.

While PowderCoat is definitely the best way to go, it is definitely expensive compared to regular paint. If I were you, I would do as stated above. Put a few coats of clear on top for added protection and call it a day.

Awesome. I was afraid that I was gonna get flamed for doin that method. I figured it would work pretty well. I was planning on putting a clear coat on over it for pretection like I did to my calipers. Thanks for the responses.

Theyre finished and they look suprisingly good. Id take pics but Im one of the few people that dont have a digital camera (besides cell phone). They rubed on eachother in the car and took the paint off the phb and an lca so now I have to repaint them

Yeah I prob will get a powdercoat on them eventually, but I just dont have the cash right now. The engine enamel Is pretty tough except for metal on metal contact like when they rubbed together. I never thought about caliper paint though. If I ever have to do anything else like that Ill try the caliper paint and see how it works.
