thanks! Ya know, I thought about changing it to a different album, but decided I didn't care and most probably wouldn't know the other alblums I have on there anyways (Jurassic 5, Hilltop Hoods, etc). I like their Rascal Flatts reguarless.

LOL, it actually does too. Something about a flush mounted screen gives the interior a whole new modern kind of look.

Would this work if you didn't have the steering wheel controls as far the install is concerned? My steering wheel controls don't work with my after maket head unit. I feel like i could fab the bezel and do the electrical work but don't want it to be a waste of time. I have a motorized screen now and would really like the (flush) look that you have on your car. I could use the remote for my HU and mount it under the seat. What do you think?

You can get an adapter to regain the use of the steering wheel controls.

PAC SWI-X : Universal IR adapter

PAC SWI-? : Wired adapter, ? = specific adapter for the specific headunit manufacturer. Example: PAC SWI-PS works with Pioneer and Sony.

You described two different things.
1.) reverse engineering the interface -- that would take some time and probably some electrical engineering knowledge/experience.
2.) mounting the IR remote under the seat -- that won't work unless you extend the leads to the remote's IR LED Transmitter and mount it within line-of-site to the headunit's IR Receiver. The concern there is whether or not there is sufficient power in that circuit to push the signal down the extended leads without degradation. -- Why would you want to reach under your seat to change channel/volume/settings? Thats a farther and more cumbersome reach. Unless you meant that you want to mount the remote body under the seat and move its buttons somewhere else (Maybe hack up the steering wheel controls? In which case, why under the seat instead of behind the headunit?).

Either way, for $50-$70, you can get the PAC adapter and have a better and more seamless installation.
