With the right tires it isn't so bad. I've been driving my camaro this winter, and granted it is only the V6 it still is RWD (single wheel wonder at that too). I was sliding around less than other people around here with their FWD cars. But then, I think half of them don't know how to drive in slippery conditions in the first place ![Icon Rolleyes](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/icon_rolleyes.gif)
Proper tires + some common sense makes RWD not all that bad.

haha, OUCH! Excuse me if I didn't want to pay 15 grand for an 8 year old car just so I could drive a $500 POS. I'm in the Army and I'm stationed in Alaska. I get out in the fall, and I've got a Neon back home that'll see most of the winter abuse. I also have a 79 Camaro that only gets used in fair weather. I don't need two gas guzzling fair weather cars. Plus I've got a new Harley. Get it now? And like I said, they don't use salt here, so the car isn't going to suffer with the winter driving. Actually, they don't use salt because the moose will stand in the road and lick it. Moose are freakin retarded. And they weigh like 1,500 pounds. Get why you don't want them hanging out in the road? Before I put the snows on the car, it was ridiculous to drive. It had 275's all the way around, and 3 inches of powder would completely cripple it. I'd have to rock the car to get it to move on flat ground. But I have 225/65/16 studded snow tires on it now that KICK ***. They got me about a half an inch of extra ground clearance, and the tread is like a half inch deep itself. The car handles great as long as I stay out of the throttle (duh.) With the traction control on, there isn't any issue at all. It starts up every morning when other brand new cars wont, and with my block/ oil pan heater I don't hear even a trace of piston slap. The RWD isn't a big deal anyway, every pickup truck and damn near every SUV you see is RWD. Would you rather I be driving one of those? Getting half the gas mileage? People like to make the mistake of thinking that because they have 4 wheel drive that they don't need studded tires. Well, they don't stop any faster! I've stopped and helped out a ton of 4WD and FWD cars with ignorant owners. Here's an after shot. It warmed up to 45 today so I drove around with the T-tops off. That's my bike too.

So I'm guessing you are in fairbanks? IF thats the case they use Pee gravel on the roads I don't know what is worse. I had a 93 z28 in Anchorage and 89 BMW in Fairbanks.
Not that bad in the snow. If your in Fairbanks and see a Daytona Orange 06 Z06 with CCW's that's my dad. He owns the Performance shop off Gaffney.

Tax, title and registration is about $400 in Alaska. So we're up to $900. Plus $60 for an inspection. And what about repairs that are needed just to make a $500 car pass inspection? Insurance would be a hundred bux a month EXTRA, since the bank would make me keep full coverage on the trans am. Plus the repairs necesarry to keep a $500 car running and somewhat reliable. All that money could be going into a savings account for college, or to mods for the Trans Am. I'd rather drive my car than pay to look at it. I can fix a rock chip here and there.
