He may not be able to. I use to have 15% on mine and the law changed. In order to get an inspection sticker, the windows MUST NOT be below 32% on the tint. I now have 35% on mine and I may as well not have any at all. I miss the 15% so much.

I'm in a state where I can only have the top 4" of the front windows tinted, and I had 20% all last year. You should be able to get away with 20% if you're in a state that allows full window tint.

In order to get an inspection sticker, the place doing the inspecting also looks at your windows. They have a device they shoot through the window, telling them what percent of light gets in. if it reads below 32%, you don't get an inspection sticker. Each window has a small sticker saying it was approved. Any inspection place that is caught putting a sticker on a car that has illegal tint gets some multi-thousand dollar fine and some other pentalties as well. It's not easy to "get around" it. Even if you do have friends who own a shop.

That sucks i didnt know inspection centers tested for tint. Luckily they have never done that here. Our legal limit is 32% on sides and rear, but have been running 20% tint on both my 95 and 97 and never had a problem. 20% doesn't look too dark..it's just right

Bullshit, I'm from michigan and the cops never gave a damn about tint.. and it's 4" on the windshield.. alls you have to do is find a cool eye doctor and say ur eyes are sensitive to light, and they will write you up a prescription saying u need window tint to keep the suns harmful rays off ur sensitive eyes, and BAM, get any % tint wherever you want.. Brilliant!!

I got a fixit ticket in 06 for 35% on my doors. They do care and the limit is 4" on the doors with 6" on the windshield if I remember correctly. My buddy has been busted once this year already, three times last year, and a few times back in 06.

As for the doctors writing prescriptions it's harder to come by than you think. The guy that tinted my car is really sensitive to light and he had to go through a lot of crap just to say it's ok to have tint.

Ah I see. I forgot about the states where you have to have a yearly inspection.
