Can someone explain how this is mounted? Just drill a couple holes in the front for the bracket, I assume?

It's mounted by drilling two holes underneath.

Thanks guys, i agree its not gonna look great any way you mount it. I think the SLP grill & bracket looks clean. I got a 25 minute speech from a cop because when he stopped me i told him that i just had the front bumper replaced and was going back on Thursday to have it mounted and he started flipping out saying " o so your going to BREAK THE LAW from now until Thursday" i was like WOW you d1ck. He then decided to give my car a full sweep checking my tint etc and taking 25 min to write the ticket.. Then told me i couldn’t go thru the tunnel and made me turn around. I was ready to punch him in the face. This was all at 6:30AM by the way and i never drive to work. After that one I got one parked in an outside lot and a warning from another guy. Im gonna order the SLP one tomorrow.

I just made a manual bracket for my car. This way it stays out while I drive (no tickets) but when I go to a car show it easily slides out of sight...

AND if I forget to pull it back out (which I already have) it tucks up far enough that it doesn't scrape and is in a locked position so it can't slide out, fold out, etc... while driving.

Here's some pics (sorry for the crappy pics, just took them at night with a camera with no screen or viewfinder):

My car was REALLY low before (hence the scratches despite the fact it has been repainted three times) and it is still low now but the bracket works great.

As soon as I get time I am going to tape it off and spray that area satin black (kind of like the 03-04 Cobras)

Also, pics came out weird but when it is retracted and locked you can't see it at all from the top of the car or the side unless you bend down...

It is a simple idea that was a major PITA to accomplish. I bought stainless steel ball bearing sliders. Then realized I would have to modify the crap out of them to get it to do what was needed:

I also had to buy a lot of the parts I needed in bulk. I had extra so I sold a couple of this style (same as above but uses a safety cable and magnet instead of a spring hinge and uses a generic license plate bracket):

I have ONE of those left I'll let it go for $75 shipped firm...

Also, I have the parts to make ONE more spring hinged one (like the one on my car) WITHOUT the license plate bracket itself (it is just a stock license plate mounting bracket most cars come with but costs $30 on ebay you can just bolt it onto the bracket or bolt the license plate directly to the bracket) that I will let go for $60 shipped firm...

After that I am done. Just selling off the extra crap I had to buy at a price less than breaking even actually. Way too much hours go into making these things actually work that mass production (even on a small level) isn't worth it...

I went to the local hardware store and bought myself a piece of 1"x4' aluminum stick, it's about an 1/8" thick. I just bent an L and used 3m tape to stick it to the bottom of the bumper and then some more 3m tape to stick the plate to it. It sits in the sam postion as the car picture above and I have just a few bucks in it.

lol, i thought nobody would notice one day the girlfriend tells me the car has a dent and that it wasn't done when she was driving the car. I've been meaning to fix it at dent repairs, so i wont have to have someone spray paint and use bodo, just havn't gotten around to having it done. But i've been thinking of using those dent pop ups they sell at auto parts store to see if that will work.

the thing with trying to fix your hood is that it bend on one of the edges so it's going to be a tough bitch to get straight again.

and i want my Sonoco hood too, that's why my car is 3 differetn colors right now

DEFINETLY do something or it will look like mine... Like I said, I'm just going to spray it satin black and I can respray it whenever it needs it

As far as the bracket you posted though, it is the Altec and it's shortcomings are the reason I made my bracket.

That bracket has to be mounted off center, sticks out from the car when it is retracted, etc... Not the best design
