There is realy nothing to the install,but you have to look on how these vents are put into the dash ,and do not rush things ,it is not a 2 minuts job.Generaly the install takes about 1/2 hour.

Do you try to pull the entire vent out at once or just the center section (the part you mount the ring to?) I am looking at a center ring I have out now and there is an area with 3 little barbes on it...is that what actually locks into the dash? On the one for he passengers side it has those little barbes as well but also two large tabs on the end, do the lock in as well or just hold it in place?

the center ring has 2 small lips on each side.The ones from above are a bit smaller so I recommend to lift them there .Just stick the knife in or screw driver in the middle section and push it down and torwards you....it has to come off easy...hope it helps you
