Part #1 - Headlamp.

The lens is not offered by itself.

Cost from GM Parts Direct is $209.03 per side. I'd be glad to shell out $35 - $50 for each lens. More for glass or a higher-quality plastic with clearcoating.

haha, i live for sarcasm so chill out because its just sarcasm and the reason i used it was because you have what?, 5,000 posts, been here for 5 years, and you were asking where it was so i thought it was funny. Plus when did the "shine and polish" section become any differnt to use than any other section of this site?...enjoy the writeup and your welcome

If someone could get a mold for the lense, it wouldnt be too bad but like others have stated, some people may not like the idea of having to heat up their headlamp housing, risking damaging the whole thing and the company that would potentially make these would have to have a major warning for this so they do not get screwed with customers who destroy a set of headlamp housings and want their money back.

Novus plastic kit....

I use Novus. It is hands down the best plastic polish I've ever used.

I voted yes as well, but another idea that might be cool too is an extended lens that comes out flush with the bumper and hood contours that give a blended, streamlined look, sorta like headlight covers do on the LT1 nose, but is an integral part of the headlight housing.

At that point, might as well make a whole aftermarket housing assembly that's already assembled and is a swap-in replacement for the stock units.

And yes, I mean just the clear part....its not much of a risk if you have done it before. I did it my first time with no problems at all....both headlights! 20 mins in a 200 degree oven and presto!
Is that all that there is to it? How do you actually take them apart? I'm sure that's how some of you guys are blacking out the inside of the light, which looks hot IMO! SOME ONE PLEASE EDUCATE ME!!!!

put the entire headlight in the oven for about 20 mins, sometimes a little longer...

remove the 4 clips before you do that. once its out of the oven use a butterknife to separate the lense from the housing, you basically wedge the knife in beteen and bend it, you'll hear the glue on the inside coming apart, and then you can just do the rest by hand especially if you have small fingers.

I am actually making a set of whistler headlights right now to be sold on this site...

Well, I just found a site that has both sets of headlights for $222.90 + free shipping. Think I'm going to get those and have them clear-coated and then installed. I'm tired of my Z looking like it has cataracts.
