I'm not feelin eighter of then, but the one with the line down the middle is the best of the two. I have to agree with the heat extractor concept. I would lose the my 4" VFN for a C5-R style heat extractor hood for the birds!

i like the other 4 inch vfn ram air hood for the t/a's but the hood is just a bit to big. maybe one half as tall or a little smaller would look better IMO

I don't like either one. I'd LOVE to see a hood with the 2nd generation Super Duty T/A scoop like on that Heritage TA.
We have been asking for one of those for years now.

I'll second that!

Why no one has made a shaker hood yet, even a non-functional one, is beyond me.

Thats not a constructive answer at all!

Keep in mind these are photoshop images and its hard to make them flow as well
using photoshop so you have to use a little imagination because we would definately add more shape in regards to the flow of the car, We will most likely be making a cowl hood because there isn't one out there that really flows well with the lines of the firebird and keeps the pontiac look, we have had many requests for one. dont forget we have brought the Camaro guy's some of the coolest designs outside of a factory hood, we would definately do something tasteful with this one!

A ton of people change from the sleak beek because it just doesnt flow with the car at all. You are attempting to change it but are keeping the worst part of the design IMHO.

Something more firehawkish with the cowl would look A LOT better. Add in a set of two mecham heat extractors and you might have a nice looking hood.

I know I would but not like a WS6 hood. Thats why I threw out my suggestion of Fire/superhawk hoods. IMO they look the best on a Firebird.

Yes, keep the ram air portion. With the pics provided, it's a too linear in the design. 99.99% of Sleak Beak Bird owners will want some "nostrils" on the front, whether it be Raptor, WS6, WS9, or whatever. If I *were* to do ANYTHING without the nostril design, it would be a 4" WS6 style type with just the nostrils plugged / smoothed over to fit the hood, resulting in a really large curved cowl induction hood.

Give the Firebird hood a reverse facing power bulge like the 1982-84 T/A's had.

I don't like that look for our cars at all. It might appeal to somebody with an all-out drag car.

What we need is a reasonably priced aftermarket Firehawk hood that doesn't require trimming the bumper. Something like the Raptor but without that Suncoast airbox provision.

I like the one with line in the middle, but it needs the nostrils to be rounded like a ram air hood.

I know this is for Firebirds, but since the hoods are interchangable for the Trans Am's too I wanted to contribute a little.

I would no doubt like a little meaner hood for my daily driver. But when I look at VFN's site all I see is a look a-like stock WS6 hood & the $" tall one. there is no happy medium. I would like to see a hood between stock nostril height & 4". I just don't see the 4" being real daily driver friendly. Maybe a 2.5-3" WS6 hood so visibility is a little better. I bet you'd sell a **** ton of them if they weren't the full 4" tall. Thats about the only complaint I have heard from Trans Am owners. They love the hood lines & what not, but it's just too tall for most people & practicle use.

And maybe try to make the nostril opening a little smoother like stock, instead of so square looking. Or maybe incooporate something like the SLP HO hood for the Trans Am's around the nostrils/hood latch area.

Not sure if I'm explaining it right or not. But I think most people get my general idea.

I don't care for either design.

I like the nostrils up front, period, both on the LS1 cars and the LT1 cars. I think a lot of owners are really looking for a nostril hood with some louvers. Louvers in the front half of the hood are functional (that's where the low pressure is) and look good. Any louvers out to the side look great as well. C5R/C6R style. I know louvers are labor intensive. Maybe if the cut outs were left to the owners it would be cost effective.
If you made one like that for the LT1 cars I'd jump on it tomorrow.

There is a small market for the cowl hood. But not much of one from what I've seen. It just doesn't tend to go well. I think a lot of what makes the bird look so aggressive is that the back is low and the front raises up to swallow whatever is in the way... once again I think this goes for the LT1 as well as the LS1.

I went to college for graphic arts and can draw up a very quick sketch to submit to you and the masses if there is any interest.

+1 would love a hood like that, but don't know if its possible.

i did like the look of the mecham hood, in general the heat vents like that just look aggressive, i like the 3rd gen hood louvers, if they were functional, could maybe look good as well.

but i would buy a cowl hood if if looked good in person... be nice to have some other options!
