Default SS hood question...

Is there a way to tell wether or not a ss hood is authentic oem? Anything like the SLP code engraved into the oem ss spoiler?

no carving or number or letter identification....just have to check structure and proportion I guess...also the craftsmanship of OEM is usually better in a noticeable way compared to aftermarket...I guess trust would be a main factor as well....it was with my hood anyway.....

Ive noticed on some of the aftermarket hoods the "fangs" are more straight then some what curved by GM. It was noticeable on the suncoast hoods, not sure about the rest

Well I cant yet, Im looking at a couple of options right now. Im talking to a couple of members who want to get something else and want to sell their old SS Hoods. I was just wondering if there was any way to tell. Because to be honest I dont think I would be able to tell the difference between a glasstech/ASCD/trufiber or an OEM SS hood.

Def can tell the oem apart but I am not sure on the others. I can tell you if it is oem or glasstek is about it

I thought there were numbers carved in under where the hood strut mounts?

Its possible but not that I recall. I had a OEM hood and it had no numbers at all under it. Or maybe I overlooked it?

The spoiler has a seam that runs the entire length. It is 2 pieces put together. All aftermarket SS spoilers I have seen are 1 piece.
