Default How do I get this:

I just converted my HVAC, Door lights, fog light, and head light bulbs to blue LED. My stereo head unit is also blue, and matches everything perfect.

The only thing left is my gauge cluster, as it is the stock red/white as of now. Looks way out of place.

So basically, how do I get my cluster to look practically just like this:

Hopefully I can just buy an overlay so I don't have to mess with changing the bulbs in the cluster.

What needs to be done to get it to look like that?

Thank you very much!

I think what you are referring to is an EL Reverse Glow Gauge! Some people pick them up through Macewen or they find them at various online outlets.

I picked my Silver Faced Reverse Glow Gauge up from procarparts.com
sorry if I posted that site!

Reverse glow gauges illuminate on their own via connected to the headlight switch panel, with no need to replace or mess with your bulbs!
Here's mine:

Hopefully this helps ya!

That blue looks pretty cool!! I have always liked the orange that the Pontiacs have, but if I had a Camaro again, I would do the blue! Keep us posted!!

Thanks.

There are some that change the bulbs themselves to LED's, while others jsut change the overlay so the stock bulbs show a different color through the tinted overlays.

Which do people prefer? I only ask as I have heard of LED's having hot spots, and I really want to keep the red colors on the cluster for the redline for RPM, etc etc.

Can I do that with both, or just one or the other?

No prob! In answer to your question, like I stated above, The overlays like I have is a technology called Electroluminescent (EL Glow) which has its own lighting "strips" on the back of the overlay and at the bottom there is a wire(s) that has heat shrink on it that leads to a box, and from there, 2 wires come out (Red for power, Black for ground) that attaches to the inside of your headlight switch panel. I don't know if that makes any sense to you, but if you want, I could dig up the write-ups that I used to hook mine up!

Basically it uses its own light to light up, before I got my Glow Gauge, I had changed my factory bulbs to Blue LED's in hopes that I didn't need the Glow Gauge....well turns out, all the LED's did was blend with the factory gauge and Really dulled the light output! Hence, the reason why I got the EL Glow Gauge!

I hope this some what answers your inquires! If not, I could probably explain better or get you the write-ups, or maybe somebody else could explain it better.

You should consider getting the bezel that came on the 97-02's, and cutting off the excess portions that aren't gauge related. Looks a million times better. Here's mine on my '95:

If you're wondering, yes it still lights up just fine even though the left and right portions have been cut off.

Damn Jason, You read my mind! Thats the next on my list to get, been looking into getting one, cause your right, it does complete it!

If you know of anybody that has any used ones, let me know....if not I might have to ebay it or go through Macewen (which will be the more pricer route!)

Also Jason, In your opinion, do you like the 2 round circles that lights up the Blueish Green on your gauges (judging by your pic, looks like you have)?
Me personally, I think they don't mesh well, and they look kinda "rice" (No Harshness intended)!

I was lucky enough to get bezel off ebay for $15. I believe Specialized Stainless is also selling them now:
http://store.specializedstainless.co.../Detail?no=200

and I thought WS6 Store had gotten another shipment of them in and put them back on their site, but I can't seem to find it.

As for those 2 round circles, I despise them lol. But this set of overlays was my only option since my speedometer only reads 115. I can't find any other ones that look any better. Luckily at the time when I bought mine it was only $.01 + $12 shipping on ebay. Now the prices have jumped significantly. So I can't complain for the price I got them. I've been thinking of getting a razor and slicing the strip on the back that sends the power to the round circles. That way to find out it that would keep them from lighting up. But I just really don't feel like taking the whole thing off, too much work. You get used to them though.

If you do get the bezel, there are some tabs you'll need to clip off (I used a dremel). Once you put it up to the gauge cluster, you'll see exactly which ones need to be cut off. Another route to take if you don't feel like paying a ton of money for the bezel, is check out people paring out their 97-02 Firebirds. See if you can get a good deal on the whole gauge cluster. Most of the people parting the cars out won't want to sell just the lens, because then they'll be stuck with the rest of the cluster that no one will want to buy. Same with ebay, see if you can get a good deal on the whole gauge cluster on there.

LMAO, Yeah I figured you didn't like those circles! Thanks for the info, yeah I'll probably find someone parting theirs out and get the whole cluster assembly, or I might ebay it cause $45 through S.S. is up there just for the black accent piece! When I could possibly find one in pretty good shape for alot cheaper!
That and I am going to wrap the black accent piece in Red/Black Carbon Fiber, to match my Red/Black Carbon Dash Kit that will be coming soon!

I'll keep you updated when I get all this **** and get pics! I Love Modding!

Hey Jason, I came across this one when I was looking for one for somebody else, that would be perfect for yours:
http://www.procarparts.com/product_i...811a86536843d2

Just like mine, but it goes to 110 mph, though you said yours goes to 115, I assume that means topped out! Check it out, though you did pay alot less than what this one is going for, but maybe if you decide to change yours....you should go with this one!

Not that I am aware of, Though I could check into that for ya! As far as I know though, there is a 6 color reverse glow gauge that lights up: BLUE, LIGHT BLUE, BLUEGREEN, GREEN, LIGHTGREEN, & VIOLET. I could be wrong, and will check into it!

You could also change the bulbs behind your stock gauge with ORANGE LED's, and if you wanted a White Face or a Silver Face, you could always do a Vinyl Overlay.

Some White Faced Gauge Overlays are simply Vinyl overlays, where an EL Reverse Glow Gauge is an Overlay that has light "strips" on the back that illuminate and therefor uses its own lighting to shine, instead of the stock bulbs in your main assembly being the light source. Now, not that I know of that they have a Reverse EL Glow gauge or an EL Glow Gauge that lights up Orange out! I did alot of research when I got mine, and didn't see any out there that lit up Orange, hence the Idea I was throwing out there to just get a White Faced Overlay and replace your factory bulbs out with Orange LED's! Plus LED's are much brighter.

Hope I have cleared this up for ya, I can also check into it to see if there is an EL Glow Gauge out there that lights up Orange!

I'll let you know what I find

I'm also looking for the reverse glow gauges without the two large blue circles.
