i am looking for the name of this contraption, and how do i get rid of this. if it matters it is an 02 z28. thanks for any help!

I think you are referring to the A.I.R. system.

i believe you will need egr and air block off plates.. they are pretty cheap, and can be found on ebay.. took me about 20 minutes to do it.. but it will throw an ses light which you will need to get tuned out.

you dont need an EGR block off since they didnt come with it in 2002, but yes youll need A.I.R. block off plates. the system includes what you circled and all lines included, plus the rubber hose that runs along the drivers side inside fender (in the engine bay), the tube that goes to your air lid, and the air pump thats below your fuse box in the engine bay.

Whats circled in the original post is the AIR system. 01 and 02 cars did not come with EGR.

The more fun way is to buy a set of long-tube headers without AIR provisions.
