i dropped my car off to get tinted today and its getting 18% on back 45% up front and 5% strip. he doest sell 35 for some reason so my question is if i put a layer of 50% on top of the 45% will that make it 35%? (35% is the legal limit in nc)

no, it would make it about 22.5%. I wouldnt worry about it being too dark. I have 35% on the doors and 20% on the hatch. Tint is completely illegal on front windows in NJ. No tickets here. Just got a warning for no front plate last friday though.

Keep in mind, our windows already have a slight tint to them (don't know the percentage though). You don't want to put a 35% over top of that, otherwise you'll end up below the legal limit.

Im in N.C. And I wanted to tint my car. Well 35% is just way to light for me. So I went with 5% all the way around with no strip. Strips attract tickets, well to me they do. If Im coming at a officer and he can see am strip he knows the rest of the car is tinted and might come after you. On the other hand If i dont have a strip he might not notice the rest of the car. Unless you pull right up next to a officer. That would suck.

I'd rather not pay $170 for tint to be installed only to have it ripped out and a sticky residue left on the windows or pay $150 fines every time I am pulled over. But hey, it's just money right?

The legal limit in Florida is 35%. I have never been pulled over for tint when I do get pulled over the first thing to do is roll down the windows. They can't tell you to rool them back up for a real reason. I have had 5% all around for a the better part of three years. I have been pulled over for the windshield look tinted cause of a dash mat. The officer never said anything about the other windows. If they ask just say you bought the car that way works every time.
