Default Custom hood...

Here are some progress shots of my custom hood. let me know what you think so far! Eventually the hood scoop will be painted white and continue to the back of the car as a stripe.

Click a pic to go to my fquick to look at more pics.

wow, braver than I am sir. The pic of you cutting and grinding scares the hell out of me. Should look darn nice when you're done...it has the "L88" look from the late 60's Vette's.

wow brave enough cutting holes in a car, let alone while it's still connected to the car!! the first pic drew me away but the last pic makes the hood not look as bad. Got any better pics of it, straight up and on top?

I agree not sure I would do it on but then it seems like it came out well for you. Did you remove the under support from the opening or leave it?

I would have to give it a thumbs up, not bad at all I like it.

the pic links to my fquick page where there are more pics. and i will have more pics as it comes along. the rain stopped me today.

i took a hole saw to the support under the opening, i didnt want to completely remove it.

i just cut through the hood skin, so the cutting wheel wasnt close to hitting anything, there was actually plenty of room. trust me, i checked, lol

I have plenty of experience with a cutting wheel. but i appreciate all of your concern. theres actually about 4 inches of clearance, so there was no way i was gonna screw anything up. back to commenting on the hood

I love how people who don't have the ***** to do risky stuff to their own cars try to make themselves feel better by trying to speak badly of the efforts of people who do

Anyways, GOOD FOR YOU !!! I think it looks fuggin' killer

This is pretty similar to how the Dick Harrel's "Sunoco" hood got made, just the bottom skin of a factory style hood with a carbon fiber top piece mated to it:

Projects like this are the reason I surf this forum so regularly... I am in always in hope that 1 of the 100 posts will actually be something cool and original

Makes me wish I would have gone further with mine:

Keep up the good work

Just wondering, why white? Why not satin black, gloss black, gloss black with a silver pinstripe (like AnimalSS's amazing car), or a charcoal metallic?
